Gov. Nikki Haley Accepts Trump Offer to Be Ambassador to United Nations

The rumor going around is that this move isn't so much for Haley but more to reward South Carolina's lieutenant governor who was one of Trump's earliest and biggest supporters. Obviously no evidence it's true though.

Regardless, I'm fine with the Haley pick. I'm not sure she necessarily has any experience in this area, but she's been more than competent as Governor.

Sorry - wasn't meaning to give ya a Thanksgiving Eve nightmare. But I really don't see any other reason for a sitting governor to take that job - unless it's always what she she wanted to be when she grew up.

I think she would consider it a step up for her

Not only does she national exposire but international visibility too

"I have a black friend so i'm not racist," isn't a valid argument.

She's not black, she's Indian. I can make a snitty remark about those who see all minorities as the same, if we want to play that game.

She's also not his friend, she's an appointee to a government position of substantial responsibility

Nikki Haley has been appointed by Donald Trump as US Ambassador to the United Nations:

Hmm, not sure why he picked her, other than she's Asian and a woman. She doesn't seem to have any particularly strong international experience under her belt, which would be useful in this position. I'm not saying she wouldn't be a useful pick for something, since she's done a decent job as governor in her state, but I just think that she'd have been better for something other than Ambassador to UN.

I think this is the best explanation:

The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. as a cabinet-level position is a mostly modern political construct. Previously, only Clinton and Obama considered their representatives as cabinet members.

The reason is simple; the U.N. is an ineffective body; the framework of the U.N. is antithetical to our constitutional republic; and considering the ambassador a cabinet member only gave them more credibility than they deserved.

That said, this appointment would either mean: A) Trump considers the U.N. to be as ideologically valuable as Obama/Clinton. Or, B) Trump considers the U.N. useless, and is utilizing the appointment as political strategy. When you think Bannonly, you recognize there is only one option – “B”.

Bannonly Thinking = Haley: ♦ removes a diversity arrow from the leftist media quiver; ♦ gives the GOPe a useless bone that no-one in the White House will care about; ♦ controls a potential GOPe opponent in 2020 ♦ gains/benefits a big time supporter of Donald Trump by creating South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster.

If she toes the Trump line and doesn't make her own decisions, I think she'll do fine.

You're missing the point.

Let's say Bob raped one hundred women, but employee two hundred women.

Bob's employment of women does not excuse the rape.

Would you care to admit the man changes his opinion like people change their socks? From your own article.

"Speaking at the American Israel Political Affairs Committee Monday, Trump blasted "the utter weakness and incompetence of the United Nations.

"The United Nations is not a friend of democracy," Trump said. "It's not a friend to freedom. It's not a friend even to the United States of America, where as all know, it has its home. And it surely isn’t a friend to Israel."

Fan of the ideals and not the corruption and execution of those ideals. Sounds fairly realistic to me.

Smarmy metaphor choice, but we aren't talking about Bill Clinton's administration.

You're completely missing the point. The point is that one new good deed doesn't disprove past sins.

Except you are blasting the moral equivalency completely out of the water by using a despicable metaphor.

What are you talking about? If you miss the point, that's your problem. My criticism is about the "logic" that this one act somehow meaningfully nullifies past misdeeds.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot you are the ultimate decider of redemption and morality. pfft.

Tokenism? Did you notice his campaign manager? Or how many women he employs in positions of authority in his businesses?

Keep whining and crying wolf.

I'm arguing against the reasoning that attempts to excuse PAST behavior based on PRESENT behavior.

I think you should be ashamed of yourself for being so callous to how terrible a crime rape is to even make that comparison. Something's wrong in your noggin

By all means, throw out the smear and then justify it when it isn't satisfied by current OR past actions. Your entire argument has been despicable from top to bottom.

If all you have is this dishonest deflection, a victim card so worn that it is almost completely transparent, then i have won the argument.

Then win it and rest on your laurels.

I am more than fine with Nikki Haley. Brilliant choice Mr President.
