Gov. Nikki Haley Accepts Trump Offer to Be Ambassador to United Nations

I started saying it when?

Welcome to reality, the more the better.....

Trump being a great President would be such the perfect planting of a knife in the back of the elite.

Remind me again what qualifications or experience this woman has for the role?

While she's a conservative and a competent administrator, she's also a loyal establishment hack, and that's why she turned into an attack dog against Trump during the party primary. It could be that Trump's just shifting her out of the way, so that the establishment can't use her as the face of some future rebellion in 2020. This would help him consolidate control over GOP.

My impression is that she is not a barking-at-the-moon liberal but I would not call her a conservative either.

She's an establishment hack who chose a career in government

Yeah, I agree - Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) has strong knowledge in foreign affairs, particularly Middle East and Asia - and her views on Syria align with Trump's. She's also a military veteran and very articulate. As a Democrat, her appointment would have shown bipartisan outreach.

Yikes, I guess I could go with "teaching them a lesson," but not a knife in the back.

Let's hope. So far, I am happier with him than I expected.

Here's what I want:

1. Clean up the inner cities so they are no longer drug-infested war zones with murder rates rivaling Honduras.

2. Stop the outflow of manufacturing jobs

3. Rebuild rebuild rebuild---build it all: big fancy buildings, highways, bridges, high speed rail, airports, etc. Hell, I don't care if he borrows another $10T to do it. Build it!

4. Reinvent energy policy. Drill, pipe, mine and refine. Do it all. Do it here. Do it clean. Spend a Trillion on that alone, if need be.

5. Enforce the law against people hiring illegals. Discourage illegals from coming; encourage them to leave.

6. Get lobbying money out of DC. Cut people off at the nuts if they stay on the bribery schemes.

7. Find a way to engage minorities (especially young blacks) to draw them into the economy and give them reason to assimilate. I think this can be done via opportunity, not handouts and more dependency.

8. Take the graft out of government projects and schools etc. No more poof when gvt money is spent, but let it actually be spent on the damned projects, not to line the pockets of the well-connected.

9. Pull back governmental reach in policies like which bathroom school kids use in Cowpoke Mississippi. Let the people of Cowpoke make their own decisions.

10. Go for broke with Russia and China, find common ground and learn to work together to help all three countries instead of beating out heads against a wall to fight each other all the damned time.

4.

Agreed

Let the people of Cowpoke decice bathroom policy and get the feds out of it.

For a conservative the only reassuring fact is that she is going to a bull**** organization that can be ignored and should be defunded anyway

The UN has occasionally been a great stage for pressing changes in international diplomacy orientations. Lest we forget Kirkpatrick, Moynihan, and perhaps most importantly, Adlai Stevenson.

Don't know much about Haley other than she's from South Carolina. I'm just glad it wasn't that idiot John Bolton.

shes going to do great and america is excited to see her succeed

Bolton wouldn't buy a second term.

We think alike............ I can't believe it.

Now if you would only STFU about my Tommy No#12

Agreed. 5 years experience as a governor with some added foreign policy experience from being Ambassador. She's already running for President.

I think she would be a great run in 2024.
I would vote for her.

But it wont, so we should probably have someone strong there. John Bolton might be TOO strong, but someone like him with more charisma might be good.

John Bolton is ready for bigger things

Like being my first choice for Sec of State

More than Obama when he got elected president. You might have a point. Look how bad he has hosed things up. Of course she is not running for President. She is going to be an ambassador.

You are going to wish they would have named Bolton UN Ambassador if they appoint him as Sec State.

I don't want that guy anywhere nears any levers of power. He's clearly got a lifelong impaction and his inability to take a healthy crap which has him angry at the world and blaming everyone but his own bowels.

I don't know anything about the guy other than he is hard headed so I don't really have an opinion. What I would be most interested in is watching how he negotiates. I negotiated govt union contracts for 18 years (employee side). I have seen a lot of bad negotiators.

Now you are trying to scare me.

I hope she never runs for president

But she would check off a few boxes all at once.

There are a lot of people that feel that is what is most important in choosing a President.

Since when do qualifications or experience matter to the left?

He's a brash authoritarian "my way or the highway" asshole kind of guy.

He was a U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from August 2005 until December 2006 as a recess appointee by President George W. Bush. Ok... our embassador to the UN and this is what he had to say about the UN building:

"The Secretariat building in New York has 38 stories. If it lost ten stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference"

He's doesn't negiotiate. He bullies. Wherever he travels we lose the respect of those people.

Hillary proved that there are libs who think even a bad female president is better than no female president at all

So yes, haley would get some support

Sorry - wasn't meaning to give ya a Thanksgiving Eve nightmare. But I really don't see any other reason for a sitting governor to take that job - unless it's always what she she wanted to be when she grew up.
