Romney and Trump to discuss secretary of state position, NBC source says

Keeping in mind that almost everyone in the conservative movement has Sec of State possibility, Romney accepting such an offer would be the sensible and patriotic thing to do, but I shudder at the thought that Romney will have to defend that man's administration.

Which is why I would question Romney for taking the position. Why would given his history of criticizing Trump as it is?

I doubt Trump will pick Romney: he's not racist enough for Trump's team.

I can think of no reason why Romney would accept that position in such a deplorable administration; what does he stand to gain from being the fig leaf of such an abominable incompetent bunch?

Hoping they were discussing on the possibility of giving it to Ron Paul.

I can't think of two individuals farther apart than these two. Politics makes strange bedfellows I suppose.

Mitt Romney Blasts 'Phony' and 'Fraud' Donald Trump

I've always said that the only people who hate Trump more than the Democrats are the establishment GOP. Guys like Romney, the Bushes, Kasich, etc, absolutely loathe Trump with a passion.

How can Mitt work for a guy he clearly doesn't respect?

Romney is meeting Trump this weekend in NJ to discuss Secy of State Job. I think Romney is a good choice for Secy state. He has his head on straight when it comes to world affairs. Maybe Trump really will get the best people for the job. That or this is all smoke and mirrors.

Trump, Romney set to meet in New Jersey | Fox News

Romney didn't sound particularly enthused after meeting with Trump. My guess is Trump wanted Romney to kiss his ring or something.

Romney cares about money and power and in order to improve his cred he needs to beg Trump for a job.

And yet, there was Romney at Trump's beck and call...

I'm fed up of this whole Romney thing - I wish Trump would just hurry up and appoint somebody else, to put this to rest.

I feel like Trump's trying to keep us in suspense, just to keep us hanging and boost his TV ratings ("Tune in next time, to find out who I pick for SecState! Will it be my EvilArchEnemy Mitt? Or will it be Bret Michaels, who I fired on the Apprentice? Find out this Saturday, at 8pm - don't miss it!")

Romney represents all the wrong things from the establishment. Appointing him would amount to throwing a bone to them, but it would send a very regressive message to the voters on what the foreign policy's going to be.
