Harry Reid: Trump's newest hire puts a "white supremacist" in high-level [W:78]

Re: Harry Reid: Trump's newest hire puts a "white supremacist" in high-level office

Ok

Some people who like trump are disreputable.

I like trump

Does that make me disreputable too?

Your guilt by association campaign can only carry you so far before the wheels fall off
No, it doesn't make you disreputable, and I don't know whether or not Bannon is a white supremacist. I do know, however, that David Duke is a white supremacist, and David Duke, at least, believes that Steve Bannon (and Trump) is on his side. And I think there is a reason he thinks that. And I think Trump supporters, and Trump himself, do themselves a disservice by ignoring that.

Its ok if david duke likes trump

But I see no evidence that trump wants to return America to a whites-only nation.

If liberals are afraid of a white backlash you shpuld stop trying to flood America with minorities that are not assimilating fast enough

I think democrats (can't speak for liberals) are more concerned about the people who are already here than they are about "trying to flood America with minorities." Your talk of assimilation also suggests that you do, in fact, want to return America to the culture, at least, of a "whites-only nation." I had thought that the issue that motivated Trump's positions on immigration was more economic than social, but this more flagrant anti-foreigner attitude obviously does underlie the views of many of his supporters.

Also, what assimilation problems are you referring to, specifically?

I have read numerous posts from the left telling white conservatives to go pound sand because the demographics of America have changed and oh by the way, whites need to get ready for some payback.

Yes, I absolutely do want to preserve the culture that America was founded on and has lived by for 500 years.

Its the best culture in the world and has made us the great nation we were when obama took office

But that does not exclude any immigrant from assimulating and being part of the Ameican culture.

But what is that culture? And in what way are people not assimilating to it?

That is a deep question that I am not an expert on.

You could probably do many threads on that subject.

It is strongly influenced by the Christian and Jewish religion.

The English legal system

European culture in art, food, music, science.

Tolerance.

Many settlers came to America seeking religious freedom

so there is is a place for muslims and others to practice their religion but not to fight religious wars between shia and sunni.

Respect for women.

This is not a complete list or even a very well presented list

Bit it is a start

There were articles showing that Hillary had the support of some California KKK group. Does that make Hillary a racist too? Seems so by liberal logic.

How about a culture where American values are held first. A large portion of Muslims are Muslim first, American second. Almost half wish we had Sharia law. I'm sorry, but WTF are you here for then? When do you see American's trying to change other nations after migrating? You can't love America, move here, then try to change everything that made America America.

I agree with almost everything on this list, but I also don't see a lot of evidence of immigrants failing to assimilate to those values, and I live in a pretty immigrant-heavy location. In terms of work ethic, kindness towards others, and Christian belief, I'd rank the latino immigrants with whom I've interacted on par with the average american joe any day of the week. The areas of non-assimilation, primarily food and music, I think make the cities they live in far more vibrant and interesting. I mean, foreign food is absolutely delicious.

None of this means we shouldn't control our borders, and I don't claim that there aren't immigrants who are disrespectful of the country. But I think the failure to assimilate issue is overblown.

There ate so many immigrants coming so fast they are increasing in number faster than they assimulate.

But America does seem to handle it berter than the euros have.

Not that I care as much what happens to them as what happens here.
