Trump Protesters & A Bar Full Of Marines (Tampa)

Re: Trump Protesters & A Bar Full Of Marines (Tampa)

you guys have had eight years of tears over Obama's time in office, surely a few liberals can whine about impeachment too.

Well, no. If you can show any post I made calling for or predicting impeachment, you'll have a point. I was addressing a specific comment made by a specific poster, so you trying to make this a team event is ridiculous and really pretty lazy.

Re: Trump Protesters & A Bar Full Of Marines (Tampa)

I gave your post a "Like", but honestly it's more like a ".5 Like".

The title of the OP news article is exactly what many people are pissed about concerning the media. I mean, claiming that the protesters passed by a bar "full of Marines" but only showing a single Marine saluting and a few wearing VFA/VFW hats mingling among a large group of civilians doesn't in any way depict a "bar full of Marines", whereas, the reporter may have been correct to depict the bar patrons as Trump supporters who clashed momentarily with Hillary supporters/protesters.

As to the childish claims, I think both sides could be held equally to blame since neither side did much to de-escalate matters as evidence by the police arriving on the scene to ensure things didn't get out of hand.

On the "bad ideas/worse candidate" claim...all I can say is most people who voted for Trump wasn't voting for him because they thought he was the better candidate. They voted for him because in their opinion he had the better ideas on ways to improve their personal economies and spoke in a loud voice against establishment politics and retaliated against being lied to by those same establishment Republican politicians.

Hopefully as things go forward, Trump is able to make good on his promises of economic growth. Still, with all the hateful rhetoric he spewed throughout the primaries, I think the protesters have reason to be very concerned about the president-elect.
Concern i think is the exact right word to characterize what is motivating these protests. I think people are afraid they are not going to be able to survive without the current level of gov support and they are panicking about it. What we are seeing isnt anger its fear

Re: Trump Protesters & A Bar Full Of Marines (Tampa)

Not that I agree with the Protesters, but wouldn't Marines beating them up for talking be a violation of free speech? And aren't you a proponent of free speech? Way I see it, both sides would have been better off minding their own business. And trained soldiers should know better, in regards to confronting drunken civilians. They are after all there (and sworn) to protect all of our freedoms, not just the ones they agree with. They could have seriously injured every one of those people, over words. I can't condone anyone's behavior in this situation. Unless you think it's honorable to beat up practically defenseless civilians, exercising their right to either free speech, or the right to demonstration. I bet their C/O is reaming them a new one.

I somehow think that if Klan members barged into a black bar yelling the N-word, all illusions of "freedom of speech" would be out the window, and you'd applaud approvingly when the Klan learned that words have consequences in real life.
