Assassination threats against Trump flood Twitter

Self identified liberals constitute about a fourth of the U.S. adult population. So you are saying some crazies on twitter making assassination threats represent 60 million Americans?

Right, and they shouldn't be. But it's sort of like trolling the comments section of some story to find offense. Lots of immature idiots out there on Twitter and making anonymous comments in various places, and from what I see the morons cross party and ideological lines.

Trump has a much better chance of being assassinated than Obama did, and we heard claims that Obama was going to be assassinated by angry white men for years after he landed in Washington.

IMO, it's a useful service. I follow interesting people, they make interesting comments, some are very funny, and it's a good way to sort of see what news is breaking and see the reactions. The problem is one level below the serious people posting on twitter - it's there where you get lots of anonymous assholes, racists, misogynists, and some of the biggest morons in the country. You get the distinct impression lots of them aren't out of HS yet or are still stuck there emotionally, so I just stick to the top level which are mostly tweets by people I follow or their retweets.

It's where I'm pointed to good conservative analysis. I follow quite a few republicans/conservatives who are thoughtful people and often read what they link to. It's a good way to get pointed to good analysis by someone trustworthy, and I don't have to dredge through a bunch of garbage. Same on the left.

The internets is a wonderful thing. Almost anything said on it is recorded for posterity. And I have been around awhile, and have a decent memory. I coulda sworn you defended an article about possible revolt after Obama was elected, in part on the basis it was Obama's fault. And I found it.

So what we have learned is that some people base who is to blame based on who they want to blame. Morality based on who is acting, instead of what the act is.
