[h=2]"It was a mistake, and for that I'm sorry," Bret Baier said Friday about a Fox report that mistakenly claimed Clinton would likely be indicted as a result of the FBI's investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

Fox News Channel apologized Friday for an inaccurate report this week that Hillary Clinton would likely be indicted as a result of an investigation by the FBI into the Clinton Foundation.

Fox's Bret Baier, who initially reported on the case Wednesday, said Friday that "it was a mistake, and for that I'm sorry."

Clinton's critics have accused her family of giving donors special access to the State Department when Clinton was secretary of state.

The Associated Press reported this week that FBI agents seeking an investigation into the foundation talked to Justice Department lawyers last winter about allegations they wanted to pursue, but prosecutors were wary about the strength of the information they presented. It's unclear whether FBI agents are still looking into the foundation.

Fox's report, less than a week before Election Day, was a potential bombshell — if it held up.

Baier began walking back his report the next day, saying that his phrasing had been inartful. "Well, that wasn't just inartful, it was a mistake," he said Friday.

Fox News Apologizes for Inaccurate Hillary Clinton Report | Hollywood Reporter

Well, I'll be damned, a retraction and an apology from FoxNews. There's something you don't see every day. Good on them.

I predict that Baier's honesty will inspire right wing hacks on this site to properly vet their sources from now on before posting stories that are too good to be true.

I also predict that the Swedish Bikini Team will show up on my doorstep and offer to have a group orgy with me, and that my wife will give me permission.

Do you have a credible source?

This story has been reported across multiple mainstream media sites. I do that every time I'm not immediately familiar with the news site I'm reading the article on. If the story is on a suspicious site and can't be found on a single respectable journalistic site, I don't cite it or quote from it.

Do you have a credible source?

There appear to be sources saying that Anthony and Huma have flipped. And that Chelsea deleted classified e-mails. Fox might be covering the story soon.

He did say he was going to ask his wife. Did I miss CBS Or NBC apologizing for edits?

Ok...do you have avcredible source? Does your source even meet the BN standards?

It would seem that I should make alternate plans for tonight.

This is the first time that I can recall any news organization issuing a retractment. Of course this will not stop hardcore partisans from calling them Faux News even though the evidence that has been uncovered recently points to them having much more credibility than most of the others.

From another thread:
The Left needs to stop whining about the source.
Yeah, but Leftists want to shoot down any source that says something they don't like.

I never knew apdst was a "Leftist". Good to know. As far as it goes for this thread and your questioning of the source, allow me to suggest to you as you suggested to another:
If you believe the source to be in error, you're more than welcome to debunk it.

Oh and you can actually see Baier's apology on video, as it happened on Fox News.

Legitimate news organizations whose employees got journalism degrees and studied up on journalistic standards issue retractions all the time. You're just not aware of it because there are so many non-journalistic sources now who print whatever they **** out after they drag themselves out of bed in the morning.

Most people would be shocked to learn there was a time when a news anchor could report an unvetted story and actually lose his job over it.

How does your medicine taste?

Wasn't that report the topic of a half-dozens threads on DP, most of which are still chugging along? The fact that Fox admits it was inaccurate and a mistake will do utterly nothing to slow the tunnel-visioned partisan train!

Never let the truth get in the way of a good narrative.

How does your medicine taste?
You're shown to have differing standards for you and everyone else and the only thing you can do is ask about medicine I don't take? I would have expected an apology or a laugh at the conflicting standards. I guess I just can't expect everyone to laugh at such hypocrisy.

Anyway, have you bothered to check other sources and have you found Baier apologizing? If not, I'll take pity on you and post it for you. But this might be the last time, so you're going to have to learn to do this yourself. Just let me know if you need some help.

By the way, when DID you become a "Leftist"?

How does your medicine taste?

Would that be the medicine he takes when he's proven right? My guess, it tastes just like fine champagne.

Yup. Just ask Dan Rather. LOL.

That would be the medicine he takes when turn about is fair play.

Sucks when your game is played against you, eh?
