Man admits to raping daughter, 12, gets 60 days

(NEWSER) – When a 40-year-old man stood in front of a Montana judge on Oct. 4, having admitted to raping his 12-year-old daughter, it was with the knowledge that he would likely spend the next quarter-century in jail. Instead, Judge John C. McKeon ignored a plea deal in which the Glasgow resident had agreed to spend 25 years behind bars and sentenced him to 60 days for felony incest, with credit for 17 days already served, reports People. The man admitted to raping his daughter once—two other rape charges were thrown out—in exchange for a 30-year suspended sentence and 30 years of probation, reports the Glasgow Courier. He'll also have to register as a sex offender and attend community-based sex-offender treatment, per the AP.

Un****ing believable.

I think he should only be allowed to forego decades in prison if he is raped with a 12 year old maple tree instead.

I noticed no name or description of the perp. Wonder if the ruling was 'culturally' based?

What culture might that be, white rural culture?

This scumbag must have had Hillary Clinton represent him.

Is that what he was?

There are cultures who don't think twice about murdering, raping or torturing their daughters and/or other children.

My guess is that revealing the rapist's name would de-facto reveal the identity of the daughter.

In Montana?!?!

That's probably true in a smaller community. But there are the people who work at the jail, courthouse, etc. who know all about it.

Then I would guess the story is early and nobody has bothered to do any such digging.

They say that the community and the family support the defendant, mostly.
