Trump's refusal to accept intelligence briefing on Russia stuns experts

Former senior U.S. national security officials are dismayed at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's repeated refusal to accept the judgment of intelligence professionals that Russia stole files from the Democratic National Committee computers in an effort to influence the U.S. election. The former officials, who have served presidents in both parties, say they were bewildered when Trump cast doubt on Russia's role after receiving a classified briefing on the subject and again after an unusually blunt statement from U.S. agencies saying they were "confident" that Moscow had orchestrated the attacks.

"It defies logic," retired Gen. Michael Hayden, former director of the CIA and the National Security Agency, said of Trump's pronouncements.

Trump has assured supporters that, if elected, he would surround himself with experts on defense and foreign affairs, where he has little experience. But when it comes to Russia, he has made it clear that he is not listening to intelligence officials, the former officials said.

"He seems to ignore their advice," Hayden said. "Why would you assume this would change when he is in office?"

Trump is not, I believe, the problem. He is most probably not going to make it. The fact is that we have to elect someone that is almost certainly more impeachable than Nixon was at the beginning of his second term.
And the problem is that we the citizens made it so.

Trump will not be in the White House so this doesn't really matter.

Nobody has offered actual proof that the Russians are the hackers. I did some digging last night and it seems that hackers have been motivated for some time to hack Clinton aligned entities. Podesta was hacked yesterday. I think this is a cover story to detract from the Wikileaks information coming out.

It seems that there are several hacking groups that are targeting Clinton. Cyberzeist claims that he hacked the DNC and Clinton.com servers on Friday. He posted a lot of information that leaves those servers wide open to other hackers.

This year has me rethinking everything I believed to be true about keeping my various accounts secure. I believed that if I had very long passwords made of randomized characters that even a super computer couldn't break in under a hundred years I'd be safe. (There are multiple websites that will gauge the security of your passwords). Now I'm wondering about that.

yes, I hear you

new rule: never post anything or email anything unless it could withstand public scrutiny and publishing

This Warmongering against Russia is really starting to scare me. I worry about my family if Hillary gets in and keeps up the Pro-War rhetoric.

Liberals: Imagine the Iraq War on STEROIDS.

This is ****ing terrifying. The military-industrial complex is on the brink of seizing absolute power over this country.

Unbelievable.

Well, what am I going to do, stop using online banking, online investment, paypal, amazon or ebay? Stop having a website? Sure, there's two step authentication where it exists, but again, it seems like everything I believed to be true is being called into question. That the Russian hackers are cutting through Clinton's and the DNC's cyber security like a hot knife through butter should be considered cause for alarm on a national scale.

My wife is a software tester. One of the areas she tests is security. She says that there is no way anyone can totally be safe unless they use multi factor authentication. One example is where a person logs in on their computer and gets a phone call to authenticate before they can have access.

Wait, still editing, don't respond.

Edit:
My credit card has been hacked twice through my ISP. We have two separate lines into the house. One is for personal use and one is the one the wife uses for work. Both are pretty tight as far as security. I use Avast and have all my setting as private as they can be. Your information is only as safe as the weakest site that has your information.

And what is Trump's policy on using the military?

I see you're still editing, but alarmingly few sites are using two step authentication right now.

It could be goddamn Anonymous even - they've been railing against govt corruption for a long time, and it would make sense for Wikileaks to tie up with them early on. Sharper US-Russian tensions are only more recent.

Anon is pretty pissed at Clinton right now. They seem to be ready to wage a full out war against the Clintons. So is a few other hacker groups.

I agree, and all of those people I thought were just old fashioned and paranoid

not so much now

That only helps if someone is trying to brute force your password.. Which is the hard way that no one does..

Your PW could be 10 miles long and look like L31ktSWSYoMPM8J7ZWCrN9ZgFGiPaFVhEaZ2yGertxyJjY4cPGeq but it doesn't matter because they are going to get you with a keylogger or find an exploit on the site itself..

Check out keypassx https://www.keepassx.org/

I lets you generate strong paswords, and store passwords and other things behind password unlocked encryption.. But that is only the beginning of security..

Also use two factor authentification if you can. Pretty much it signs an encrypted message of the timestamp every 30 secondts and only your 2fa device and the site have the private key to know what the algorithmic answer should be.. So it changes your code/password every 30 seconds and only the device and site know what it changes to every 30 sec..

In most cases dealing with fiat currency accounts if you get hacked or identity stolen they can reverse the charges and fix it for you..

Now say you are holding $10k worth of Bitcoin, then it is really really up to you and only you to protect your data/keys/passwords because if you get got no one can help you..

The US military couldn't reverse a BTC transaction.. But any institution can reverse a USD transaction..

That is why it is very important to use different passwords for different sites/accounts..

So when (not if) one gets hacked they don't have your password for ALL of your accounts..

But.. If you use your credit card at any big box stores, all of your credit card information is most likely already on the deepweb waiting for someone to buy it and rip off your card.. There are just so many they may never get around to half of them.. Targets 40 Million Stolen Credit Card Numbers is just 1 example of many many, and companies won't acknowledge hacks unless they have to for some reason..

You can buy a card with 10k credit limit and full identity associated with it for a few bucks.. The market is absolutely flooded with them..

But your bank can just reverse the transactions so don't be scared..

You do know we're already fighting Russia in Syria, right? And that Trump refuses to comment on the Syrian situation (most assume he is unfamiliar with it).
