Haitians Mass at US-Mexico Border Despite Deportation Policy

My Mum would often say that you have two hands. One to help yourself and the second to help others. I knew from a very young age how fortunate we were to have the lifestyle and opportunities we had living here and that there were untold people all over the world who would love to have our "bad" days.

You can't help everyone but everyone can help someone. If everyone applied that practice to their daily life, the world would be a much better place.

Then we should hellp some of the millions of Americans in the Appalachians who are dirt poor. Those people are AMERICANS.

Haiti was the poorest nation on earth...so between the earthquake and now this hurricane...there really isn't much left of the country for them to go back to. The sea surge came in and salted all their fields and the killed the banana plantations. I suspect as the sea levels rise a lot more islanders will be migrating to the mainlands.
Comparing the other nation on the same island, I suspect there is more going on in Haiti than natural disasters.

I'm fairly certain they will be deported, xenophobes have nothing to worry about.

Quite a leap from being concerned about this immigration issue and being xenophobic.

No, a civilized society that has laws restricting mass immigration would deport them back to country of origin.

A civilized society with enforced laws would never let them cross the border in the first place, nor provide them with any assistance if they managed to defeat our border security.

These people had to have crossed Mexico. Let them be Mexico's problem.

Well, we are a nation of immigrants...and that's what made this country great. But I think if we're to call ourselves a civilized society then we should do our share of taking in refugees.

These are not immigrants. There is a provision in US laws for legal immigration.

No we arent. I was born here, so were my parents and their parents. 80% of our population are native born. 235 million americans are 3rd generation americans.

if they aren't native americans then they're just subsequent generation illegal immigrants.

There was no immigration law in 1500. And native americans are immigrants too. The fact is we havent had more than 15% foreign born population for over 100 years.

276 million poor people exist in India. Can they be next in line?

11.5 million extremely poor people exist in Mexico. Should we open the floodgates?

They are here already.

White guys cannot get construction jobs with Mexican crews because they aren't bilingual. And if they are, they still won't hire them. Mexicans are a bunch of racist pricks.

Isn't Haiti close to Florida?

How did they get all the way to Brazil then up through 8 countries to get to the US Border.

Who funded all of that?

You are under some delusion that everyone wants to be in the United States. That's where your argument fails.

Construction jobs don't pay enough anymore for an American to live from. Large amounts of illegal immigrant laborers have made construction wages plummet.

They're not exotic enough to deserve compassion. Besides, some of them support Trump.

Maybe if the Clinton foundation actually delivered aid to Haiti like they were supposed to, there wouldn't be mass migration to our borders.

Yea one has to wonder what exactly the clinton foundation actually spends its money on.

The problem is they pick a "leader" of sorts, and it's a problem to get cooperation directly, boss to employee. They are heading to minimum wage for what was once a journeyman carpenter.

Haiti was dead when the French destroyed it in the 1700s

Good one. Don't forget the inner city voters. They don't count because they would never vote republican so you don't have to appeal to them.

What is Mexico doing with these illegal immigrants in their country?

My folks once told me that:

"It's great that you want to help people. But only help people if you are able to. If you help people before you are able to help yourself then you are going to end up in the same position as the people that you are trying to help. Then how are you going to help people?"

$19.6 trillion dollars in debt. IIRC Roughly 10-15 years ago the total debt per citizen was around $48 thousand. Today its roughly $200 thousand. I don't think that we're in a position to be helping ANYONE.

Though natually that begs the question of why simply letting people exist in the same country as you, and then do ****ty jobs for you is considered such an extraordinary act of altruism.

Not sure how...mind explaining that?
