Trump PTSD comments spark emotional debate

Absolutely. PTSD wasn't even added as a diagnosis until 1980, though I'm sure variations of the concept have been around since humans first got the idea of throwing a big rock at another person's head.
I read once that what is now known as PTSD was previously called "shell shock" in WW1 and "fatigue" or "battle fatigue" in WW2 & Korea.

Different people with different histories. If you or I experience the same event, because of my past experiences and personality, we could experience different results because of the event. Either way, PTSD is not a sign of weakness.

You really didn't answer the question. How would you describe it then. What word would you use? toughness, inability to cope or adjust, what?

I think there's an implication that WW2 service people came home and just internalized their experiences and went on with their lives (for the most part), so everyone else should be able to do that, too.
Unfortunately they did not, medicine and society did not know better and the GI Bill was also helpful. Many, many suffered and were marginalized unfortunately.

"Shell shock" was the one I grew up with before ptsd came out. The difference was that shell shock (and previous variants thereof) wasn't a medical diagnosis, which of course resulted in a completely different reaction to soldiers returning home. So did WWII soldiers return home with ptsd? Well, let's just say they may have been "the greatest generation," but they still had human DNA.

This is not about veterans but Trump's inability to utter a coherent sentence.

Lol ! He's not the one with coherency issues. I mean did you read that rant you posted ? I mean REALLY read it ?

And Trump was cohenrent. Maybe you just have reading comprehension issues. Im starting to think the entire Left wing is suffering from a learning disorder.
FYI, there's better and more productive ways of dealing with that posting dishonest and disingenuous partisan rants on a internet forum

Here, Im sure Sylvan will give you and your ilk a group rate

And you're WELCOME.

Trump is known for saying stupid **** sometimes, but when you attempt to twist his words to fit some hack manufactured narrative YOU'RE the one that comes off as unintelligent.

Probably, but this is not about her and only a desperate partisan hack will be forced to diver from the real topic. It is simple minded thinking that will attempt to mask or excuse stupidity by one person by mentioning the stupidity of another.

There can not be any context to such piss poor expression.
The expression was perfectly fine, simply twisted to excite folks like you.

That is what the OP focuses on, because Trump really didn't say anything bad. Removed of any context, it does look pretty bad, as the media headlines made it seem like, but when the full context is applied, it's clear to most people that Trump wasn't insulting veterans with PTSD.

Only problem was his word usage, but he's never been too great at that anyways.
The forum rules mandate listing the article as it appears. I specifically commented about the language not the message.

He didn't make a mess of things. His detractors made a mess of what he said. It was perfectly fine and right on target. If you had ever served in a war-torn country, you would know that. There was no blunder. There was a media lying in wait to disenfranchise the American people.

That is my point. Trump is a media target, and he should know this by now. Everyone else does.

There was a much better way for him to handle that exchange that would have entirely avoided the conversation you and I are having right now.

I don't think Trump had any bad intentions behind that comment, and I don't have any issue with what Trump was trying to say, except for the fact that his comment was worded very poorly.

His comments are spot on, actually.

The BayFormer version.

You're gonna need a bunch of uneccsary explosions in a war zone full of militants.

Screw that version. Watch the original animated movie. Sure, Prime died, but until that point he kicked more ass than all the Bay movies put together.

The media needs to stop for a reality check more than Mr. Trump does.

I would describe it as a medical condition. Do you think someone with PTSD is weak? I sure don't.

No Trump needs to stop opening his trap. I'm just glad that the majority of this country are seeing Trump as the piece of **** he really is. Hope his supporters enjoy saying President Clinton for the next 4 years.

Maybe at the level of your abilities.

but when you attempt to twist his words to fit some hack manufactured narrative YOU'RE the one that comes off as unintelligent.
Where have I twisted any of his words? Why no muster some integrity it will make YOU look a bit intelligent?

The media needs to stop trying to lie and cheat.

Good luck with ever seeing that assertion become something other than your assertion.

Everyone seems to be conveniently shelving the notion that during the primary Trump worked the media to his advantage. Now that he is in a general election context he is not pivoting all that well into avoiding the very media landmines everyone in his camp (including Trump himself) should be looking for and we are talking about right now.

This was avoidable, no need to bitch about Trump refusing to avoid a mess he could have prevented from happening in the first place.

Talk about vets needs, talk about helping them, talk about all of our conflicts, but leave the judgments out of it. Too bad Trump cannot quit being Trump long enough to avoid giving the media every single layup they are looking for.

The expression was perfectly fine, simply twisted to excite folks like you.
Fine if you operate at the speaking ability of a 4th grader. There was nothing twisted by me nor was I excited, just amused just as much as by the posts of the Trump minions pathetically attempting to explain or mask his inabilities.

The media needs to stop trying to lie and cheat.

Well maybe that will happen when Trump stops lying and cheating.
