Congress suddenly has buyer's remorse for overriding Obama's veto

Why would allowing Saudi to be held liable for its hijackers open America to liability? That's like saying that if the President is given the right to pardon people, then it gives anyone the right to issue pardons. No, not really - if the law isn't framed that way, then you can't automatically claim some kind of implied "right of reciprocity".

"Hey - we can't give our troops guns to shoot at people! Because somebody else out there might give their troops guns to shoot back!"

Oh, really? They're all waiting on us to do so, are they?

It's more like saying that giving one president the power to pardon is giving any president the power to pardon, or to send troops to invade a foreign country without a declaration of war, or any other power.

It's called precedent.

The day I heard the news of overriding the presidential veto of 9/11 bill, ( Senate vote 97 to 1 ), I was dumbfounded. What was going on here? They, the lawmakers, republicans and democrats, do not care that US be sued by many people of many countries for many actions US takes on foreign soil?

One day later, we got this. They are open to make change to the law? Was this a joke? Do you play with a federal legislation as important as this?

I don't know if I should feel vindicated, or just simply outraged? ...

I don't know. Were you outraged when Obamacare was so badly crafted, and not read, that the King had to step in and change the law by royal decree?

As to the current issue, it is a shame President Obama and Congress didn't share concerns. I question whether or not a law authorizing U.S. citizens to sue Saudi Arabia would open us up to lawsuits or not. I don't question CNN's politics, though. Those are quite clear.

It's tough to deal with a man who rules with a phone and a pen but he won't pick up the phone and call.
