Gary Johnson: I Would Pardon Edward Snowden

Presidential long-shot Gary Johnson

Amid a renewed debate about Edward Snowden, Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson said Saturday he would pardon the whistleblower based on his knowledge of the case. "Based on what I know about Edward Snowden, I would pardon Edward Snowden," Johnson said.

Based on what I know about US politics, you'll never obtain that opportunity Gary.

I agree with Gary Johnson completely on this...based on what I know of the case.

What exactly was his crime? He exposed the NSA lying to the public about having their privacy invaded. I think the crime was the gov forcing him to flee prosecution and seeking refuge with a political enemy. Im not a Gary Johnson fan and I dont like NSA agents exposing their secrets but in this circumstance I agree that Snowden was warrented in doing what he did and Johnson would be right to grant him a pardon.

You can't actually be serious about asking what his crime was right? Even if you think he did something good overall, he committed plenty of crimes.

I wasnt litterally asking what laws he violated i was saying under the circumstances he should of been pardoned

No, he should be in jail. If he was acting as a wistleblower, he wouldn't have stolen classified information that had nothing to do with that and damaging to the U.S. in the process. He is a traitor and I wouldn't care if he was thrown in a hole to rot.

Another reason not to vote for this guy either. What a disaster of an election.
A moron (Johnson)
A Snake Oil Salesman (Trump)
A Clinton (Hillary)

All three are FAILS

He didn't "Just blow the whistle" on NSA Spying.

He:

Didn't make a single effort to LEGALLY blow the whistle
Released Means and Methods of the NSA to the world, allowing our enemies to figure out capabilities, ISIS and ALQ to know how to avoid eavesdropping by the NSA
Released to China and Russian MILLIONS of files that had nothing to DO with the "NSA Spying on America..."

There are more but those three negate any good his exposure of the NSA program did.

I had planned to vote for Gary Johnson. Now I will not.

I was leaning that way as well, but the more I get to know him, the more I realize, he's a ****ing idiot.

Respectfully i put the blame on our gov more then him.

1. The means and methods were to what imo was to illegally collect data from everyone without due process.

2. What he gave up to russia and maybe china i despise but the guy didnt have much choice. He was seeking asylum from the us gov.

I understand your ire with him but as i said earlier under the circumstances i think what he did was understandable

NOOOO

Means and Methods of collection t at HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH INTERNAL "spying" we're talking how the NSA spied on our enemies...

I have an analogy for people like you.

Snowden is a guy that crossed a street, helping a little old lady who had fallen from getting hit by a truck. You want to laud him for that. You ignore that before he did that we was tossing kittens off a bridge and afterwards was raping small children.

"BUT BUT Renae! He helped that OLD LADY!!! He's a HERO!"

Maybe your talking about something im not aware of in regard to the means and methods. Im under the impression what he exposed was them collecting meta data from peoples cell phones without a warrant. Are you saying it was more than that exposed by him?

YES

SNOWDEN CAUSED TREMENDOUS DAMAGE TO NATIONAL SECURITY. The vast majority of the documents he stole have nothing to do with programs impacting individual privacy interests — they instead pertain to military, defense, and intelligence programs of great interest to America’s adversaries. Although many experts had already concluded this, the report added that the U.S. government has spent at least hundreds of millions of dollars and will eventually spend billions to counter the damage done by the Snowden leaks. The most well-known Snowden disclosure concerned the NSA metadata program, which collects phone records but not the contents of phone calls. Although this program has long been overseen by the congressional intelligence committees and helped halt several terrorist attacks against the United States, Snowden’s leaks about it led to a hysterical and uninformed reaction by the press and some members of Congress that led Congress and President Obama to implement major restrictions, which have made this program much more difficult for intelligence officers to use to identify and track terrorist suspects.

You can also read the House Committee report on this, it's bi-partisan supported.

:lamo at all the nationalists still incredibly butthurt over Snowden. History will see him as a hero and the NSA as a villain. It is already shaping that way.

He compromised countless US capabilities and assets. The damage was profound. He made your life more dangerous and our country as a whole less safe.

Either ignorant or a liar. You pick.
