Ford is shifting all North American small-car production from the U.S. to Mexico, CEO Mark Fields told investors today in Dearborn.
"Over the next two to three years, we will have migrated all of our small-car production to Mexico and out of the United States," Fields said.

Hecho en Mexico. Argh.

Detroit needs this like a hole in the head...

Even if it wasn't outsourced, it'd have happened inevitably with looming improvements in automation.

This plays into Trumps hand. He has pleaded to not allow this to happen when Ford announced plans to build the plant.

Yet the union still backs Hillary, who will pass TPP and make these sorts if moves even more common.

About time to have a discussion on minimum wage laws and rates. I'm a Union supporter, but believe that they. the Unions, have caused this with unreasonable demands in the past.
After these things get locked in, the status quo fights to maintain the status quo and it gums up the works. The status quo of big energy prevents total implementation/commitment to Renewable Energy solutions to preserve our Planet's future.

More outsourcing under the Obama regime.

The situation is, what it is. If we don't make Detroit a better place for companies to produce stuff, we can't ask them to produce there.

The private sector has no choice but to flee the counterproductive policies of the current regime.

Is this non-answer your concession that you were incorrect in placing blame solely on the current administration?

Oh, right...it's never Obama's fault.

Non-answer #2.

Is it really so hard to acknowledge that some things are actually older than the current... or past, for you uber-partisan liberals, too, who are reading... administration?

Meh, it probably is hard. Like a friggin' vein popping in the forehead hard. But, please, carry on. This is fun. :2wave:

Can't blame Obama for anything, huh?

The unions agreed to massively lower wages for new hires, but Ford is the only "big three" automaker that has to deal with caps in the number of people it can hire at that rate, which has become a "problem" for the bean counters at Ford. Thus I suspect the move to Mexico was decided upon.

Ford set to bump entry-level workers to top tier wage

Paying Mexican wages won't make Detroit better. Ford still builds it larger more expensive models in America and has committed to it in the future. There is nothing wrong with making cheaper cars where labor costs are less. Meanwhile it is increasing wages for its American workers.
America needs to pursue "value added" jobs and products and not compete in the race to the bottom.

Yes he has continued the trend of Republicans and Dems alike. Just like Trump outsources his own production lines.

We need to change policies to encourage companies to stay here.

Good ridden. The sooner the UAW is destroyed, the sooner we can have common sense trade policies.
