Until the year 2008, The Trump Foundation was pretty much above board...... Then a couple of things happened:
1) Trump stopped giving money to his charity, and began soliciting others to give money to the foundation instead. Then he handed out the money to charity, and claimed the donations as his own. Is this ethical? No, but it is legal, no matter how repulsive this practice is.
2) Trump also began using the Trump Foundation as his personal piggy bank. At one auction, Trump was the higgest bidder for an autographed football jersey and helmet. At another, he was the highest bidder for a 6 foot portrait of himself. In both cases, the money used to pay for these transactions came not from his own pocket, but from Trump Foundation funds, which consists of donors' money, not his.
There is much more in this article by David Farenthold, who has been investigatng Trump and his foundation, and what he has found is not pretty.
Of course, in posting this, I am speaking to the choir..... That choir being all those Trump supporters who will excuse anything unethical that Trump does. Now why would they do that? Because they are every bit as unethical and crooked as Trump.
Expect the Trump apologists to make excuses for this behavior, attack the source, tell us that it doesn't matter, or attempt to derail the thread by saying "But Hillary" in 3........... 2............ 1............ It's their MO, of course. They have no moral compass either. Basket of deplorables? You betcha!!
