Amid the flurry of statements about Hillary Clinton calling "half" of Donald Trump supporters a "basket of deplorables," — a reference to some of the Republican nominee's supporters who ascribe to views popular among the white nationalist-linked alt-right movement — informal Trump adviser and confidante Roger Stone tweeted a picture of the poster from the movie "The Expendables" altered as "The Deplorables." Donald Trump, Jr., one of Trump's sons, posted the same image on Instagram. The origin of the image is unclear.

Prominently featured over Trump's right shoulder: popular white nationalist symbol, Pepe the Frog.

Trump Adviser, Son Post Image of Trump'''s '''Deplorables''' Featuring White Nationalist Symbol - NBC News

There we go folks, Pepe the Frog is now a symbol of White Nationalism.
Both NBC and the original source, The Daily Beast, either got trolled hard or are huge idiots.

Re: Trump Adviser, Son Post Image of Trump's 'Deplorables' Featuring White Nationalis

The NBC threw away what little credibility it had ages ago. It's just baffling. I'm in a state of awe at how horrible the MSM is. I've said it before and I'll say it again, no matter how bad FOX news was, it's only one channel and they've never been so hardcore in the tank for a candidate as the MSM is for Hillary.

Re: Trump Adviser, Son Post Image of Trump's 'Deplorables' Featuring White Nationalis

Hillary's political mentor was Byrd of W. Virginia, a KKK member. A noted advisor and financial investor for Hillary's political campaigns is G. Soros, a noted anti-Semite. Hillary sided with her husband over his sex scandals. Using your logic, Harry, is Hillary a misogynist, an anti-Semite and a member of the KKK?

I mean, talk about trying to spread irrational fear among voters.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can explain how Pepe the frog represents White Nationalism?

I mean can anyone rationally explain this?

/sarcasm on

First White Nationalist: "Hey we need a new symbol that represents White Nationalism."

Second White Nationalist: "Hey, I know we can use a green frog that has a French name."

First White Nationalist: "That's awesome let's do it!".

/sarcasm off

Nah dude, it's absolutely insane that Pepe the Frog is a symbol of "White Nationalism."
I can't help but laugh at how serious people took this.

If you read the daily beast article, you can see that the writer is being trolled hard and doesn't even notice it.
This is lulz worthy x100.

It doesn't, someone got trolled really badly and didn't realize it.
Then the MSM takes it up as golden truth.

Holy crap, they don't even check their sources.

A simple search on that and I can't find anything up until this article that remotely links a frog to White Nationalism. Yep I agree they got trolled on that one.

When the mainstream media ends up looking like your out-of-touch parents trying to use the slang of your generation.....

Holy crap, they don't even check their sources.

I remember a few years ago, one of the many times the mainstream press took hold of internet gossip and ran with it, its falsehood became a story in of itself. Bob Schieffer gets on the air and, instead of apologizing or chastising his colleagues for running with a story before checking its veracity, resoundingly blames the internet for not doing the press's job for them.

I don't recall the episode, but I was floored with the laziness and arrogance of it all.

Oprah did the same with the "over 9000 penises" thing.
It's amazingly lulz.

Internet trolls, gotta love em.

So when people ask for the rarest pepes it's clearly just a dogwhistle for racists?

Feels bad man.

.

Actually Pepe got co-opted by the Alt Right some months ago, which is why he ended up in that picture.

Yeah. They've definitely adopted it as one of their cute little symbols.

Re: Trump Adviser, Son Post Image of Trump's 'Deplorables' Featuring White Nationalis

This would be somewhat akin to saying:

Rickroll, popular ploy used by alt-right movement online.

Re: Trump Adviser, Son Post Image of Trump's 'Deplorables' Featuring White Nationalis

Well that's just dandy.

What, you thought could have nice things?

Yeah, anyone who's been paying attention to the alt-right has seen the images, frequently. For those not familiar, Google is your friend.

Given the responses to those who haven't seen the images, I think what we call this is a very effective 'dog whistle' to those idiots.

Dude, did you even read that article?
Don't tell me you're that dense.

That lady got trolled hard or did this not give it away.

“Most memes are ephemeral by nature, but Pepe is not,” @JaredTSwift told me. “He’s a reflection of our souls, to most of us. It’s disgusting to see people (‘normies,’ if you will) use him so trivially. He belongs to us. And we’ll make him toxic if we have to.”

Pepe Trump is meant to be smug trolling.
