An American with a family from Mexico and an American with a family from Africa are fighting for the nomination in a California district and President Obama took the opportunity to support one of the nominees. He chose to support the black nominee over the incombent. Now, isn't that a surprise.

"Her remarks come days after she ripped Obama for endorsing Harris, arguing he should be focused on helping Democrats win the presidential race rather than inserting himself in a contest between two party members.“California’s Senate seat does not belong to the political establishment – it belongs to the people of California,” Sanchez said, adding she believes voters will make their own choice in November.
Anxieties between African Americans and Latinos have been an underlying, yet seldom discussed, issue in California politics. Sanchez has aggressively courted Latinos in her campaign to succeed U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer. She has spoken about her Mexican American roots and her ability to speak Spanish. “I think we need a Latina in the U.S. Senate,” Sanchez said in January."
Race a factor in Obama’s endorsement of Kamala Harris, Loretta Sanchez says | The Sacramento Bee

After suggesting President Obama is a racists, which should win the Well-Duh! Award for 2016, Rep. Sanchez said she wasn't not suggesting President Obama is a racist but simply that Obama and Harris were friends because of race. She is a liberal Democrat.

So their family members literally came from Mexico and literally came from Africa? Why is that important?

So essentially because a black guy endorsed another black guy, it's automatically racist because you say so? Do you have any evidence whatsoever that race was a factor? Why is it that you ignore all of the political endorsements Obama has given to white or hispanic candidates in the past and simply cherry-pick out the times he's endorsed a black person so you can hold it up as "evidence he's wildly racist"? It sounds to me like you and the candidate saying things like "We need a latina in the senate" are the ones being racist.

I guess Obama's endorsement for Hillary is evidence he's racist against Jews as well, because we NEED a Jew in the oval office.

I'm no fan, in the slightest measure of Loretta Sanchez. She has been a race baiting "liberal" her entire career in elected office. It's interesting she would throw out these accusations, when she herself has used race to invent her political career.

When she first entered politics, she ran as a Republican, using her married name, Loretta Bixby. Not successful in that attempt, she dropped her married name, went to her maiden name, and changed her party affiliation to Democrat in order to run in an area of Orange Country that had a large Hispanic population.

There are many other controversies surrounding her election, but that's old news.

The bottom line is, Sanchez has used race to gain power, so her complaints are as hollow as her principles.

Of course, that leaves Harris, the other half of the Sophie's choice facing voters in California
