Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BLM

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

Yeah mentally unstable, I would guess better health care for those with these problems would help??

I think we should make others pay more for it! TAXES ALL AROUND! Except for the poor, and the excluded, and the rich, middle clas, get bent, we're gonna have "Better mental health care!"

--- but this young man was on medication, he wasn't taking it, how would "better" fix it?

"Why, by BEING BETTER DUH!!!"

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

No, he died because he broke into someone's home and posed a credible threat to him. It's tragic if he made that amazingly stupid decision partly because he's off his meds, but that's not why he died.

I would have acted precisely as this cop did. Threaten me or my family, break into my house, you die. that's it.

cp, I was going for my best impression of a lefty, how'd I do?

It applies to far to many cases. Guess that was missed by you.

Well done, indeed. Had me, for a second :D

HAHA sorry bout that.

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

The way I see this is that the guy was just being friendly. He brought the cop a plant and and offered to help redecorate but the cop outright murdered him.

Huh? Seems like the intruder broke and entered into a guy's home, and from what I can tell the homeowner lawfully defended his home.

I was being sarcastic. He didn't so much "bring a plant" as he did "throw a planter through the window".

No offense but you and some others need to work how to be sarcastic. There's this thing called Poe's Law.

Back to the story, I seriously want to know what made the burglar snap like this. ("It was BLM" in 3...2...1...)

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

Relative of suspect says he was suffering from mental health issues. Says so right there in the article.

Which makes the cop even more stupid for engaging him online or in person.

The cop should have known better.

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

Gebhard threw a 50-pound concrete planter through the window and entered the Lakeshire residence as the officer's wife, mother-in-law and two young children struggled to escape through a bedroom window, St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said. The off-duty officer shot and killed Gebhard.

How damn scary, and with his kids, wife and mother in law there? I think I would have shot him too. I know for a fact my husband would have.

Foolish conclusion pards.....especially when you have no idea if the guy attacked the mans FB page for no reason and continued on with his harassment. The cop may have tried to disregard the guy, but was continuously being harassed.

You don't know......neither do I.

I don't know, but I surely can read.

Read the article again and you will find clues that allow reasonable speculation.

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

You gotta be careful who you're talking to online. The BLM terrorist ranks are steadily growing.

So is the number of people who buy guns for self-defense. BLM and their criminal ilk should keep that in mind.

Still busted into the house. Mentally ill or not, he was a threat and the cop had the right to blast him.

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

You right wingers say this a lot when the dead man is black.

Not true. We say that of all criminals, whether they are White, Black, Asian, Hispanic or Purple with green polka dots. It doesn't matter.
You violently invade someone's home, the owner has all the rights in the world to put a couple rounds in you.

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

Only you are commenting on his skin color.

Why is it important to you?

He's just trying to provoke a "racism" argument.

Yeah. Stupid cop, using his right to free speech.

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

Yeah. Stupid cop, using his right to free speech.

He should be held to a higher standard and pay for his rampant stupidity.

His speech was half the cause of the problem. He needs to be fired.

Re: Intruder shot by off-duty St. Louis County officer after online argument about BL

The deceased man shouldn't have broken into somebody else's home, but the majority of the blame of this situation falls on the trigger happy cop who shot him. First off, the cop was apparently harassing, abusing, and racially insulting the other man online, provoking him to such anger that the situation escalated rapidly. And then, instead of peacefully apprehending an unarmed man, the cop pulls out his gun and shoots without even thinking about maybe pepper spray or a taser.

This cop and cops like him are the reason there are so many needless deaths of people of color at the hands of law enforcement in the usa. And the easy access to firearms in this land only helps situations escalate from salvageable to fatal into the blink of an eye.

Where's your evidence for that? The accounts I've read said the perp had made threats against the cop and his family.

And then, instead of peacefully apprehending an unarmed man, the cop pulls out his gun and shoots without even thinking about maybe pepper spray or a taser.

Wasn't it an "unarmed man," who had already been "peacefully apprehended" (He was in court), who just killed two bailiffs in Michigan? How many killings by so-called "unarmed men" does it take to convince people that when dumb criminals makes bad choices they're the ones who are supposed to pay the price of their stupidity? If I'm between a crazy man who just threw a 50-pound planter through a glass door in the back of my house and my or someone else's kids that ****er is going down. :shoot He's never going to get the chance to disarm me. Why this isn't self-evident is beyond comprehension.

Are you for real? I mean, you have a picture of Mao, who arguably qualifies as the greatest mass murderer in world history, as your avatar and you say the death of this young man, who chose to violently invade the home of this officer, was the cop's fault? Brilliant. :sarcasticclap

What a piece of work.........geeees!

The perp threatens the cop and his family beforehand.

The perp also threatened other people in his online rants.

The perp goes to the man's home and crashes a planter through the mans window.

The perp then enters the residence with intent of continued violence to the cop and his family.

And you expect the cop to give consideration towards the perps safety?

Also: Easy access to firearms had nothing to do with this.

He has the right to debate anyone on any issue he chooses online in his off hours.
The person he shot made it personal and lost his life for it.
