Senate likely to pass FBI spying bill after Orlando shooting

What!!?? Government using tragedy and fear as an excuse to expand its powers against the rights and liberties of its People!!?? No....never!

Can't wait to hear from a gun-owner who supports surveillance, but can't give up their AR-15.

Need thar AR15 to shoot down surveillance drones.

More attacks on the US Constitution and the peoples rights.

Tyranny comes in many forms, and disguises... one day it's identifiable as a Democrat, the next day a Republican... on this day, it's both.

The Republocrat party in general pushes towards the same end, bigger and more intrusive government, more power, more control, more money.

A gun owner? Maybe. Lots of people own guns.

A defender of the 2nd Amendment that would support this attack on the 4th, 5th and 6th Amendments? I seriously doubt it.

Prepare yourself for the surveillance state! This post may be monitored or recorded, for "training" purposes.

It will be fun to match the people that are against this with the people who just last week supported the new net neutrality rules that gave the FCC permission to monitor network traffic and content for "compliance enforcement of open network rules".

My prediction is that they will claim it is not okay for a Government law enforcement agency to monitor for bad guys, but it is okay for a Government communications agency to monitor to make sure there is no cap on their porn downloads.

In my opinion, no Government agency should have unfettered access to my information without due process. That includes the FBI and the FCC.

I Guess you have never read the constitution that prevents both of those things.
Only big gov. Types will support this unconstutional bill

No one said logic applies to people that hate the constitution. They hate free speech, guns, due process and every other protection afforded

It surely appears that way - I feel it spawns from a deep mistrust of people as individuals, while believing that the government is mostly infallible and should be empowered to control all aspects of our lives... for our own protection. What a frightening thought.

And the children... Don't forget the poor unprotected children.

Big government doing big government things? You betcha.

Look, ma, no hands.

The Bill failed and I am glad, if they have evidence then get a warrant. So your initial claim is false, since the bill failed. From a Liberal AR owner.

Neither preparation nor the monitoring of this forum are false. Thanks, come again.

Edit: I see that you were referring to the headline of the article, and not my initial claim. Apparently, the headline is misleading, though not technically false.

I hate to tell you, but the surveillance state has been here already for a number of years. Remember Edward Snowden?

This action by the Senate is very much like its action to include indefinite detention as a "new power" for the Executive Branch as part of the NDAA funding bills.

Wake up and smell the napalm--the constitution has been burning for quite a few years, thanks to our elected representatives.

I doubt it. Government surveillance isn't illegal. People in the government who break the law should be indicted. A claim that the whole government is broken has about a snowball's chance in hell of convincing enough people to actually do something.

Yes, I do support gun control.

Then, you can't complain about this.

That's the thing about living in a free country, you don't get to pick and choose the rights you want protected. Either they're all protected, or none of them are.

That's great, but why don't you tell us how you really feel about totalitarianism? :lamo
