John Kasich suspending campaign: Sources

you really shouldn't be talking. in fact you have no reason to talk at all.

And you make this snide comment because? I'll take the most overly-scrutinized politician in my lifetime with a qualification list stretching from here to England over the Drumpf.

I was surprised no one started this thread earlier. Thank you.

Smart move on Kasich's part if he wants consideration from Trump for veep, and also in avoiding running afoul of Priebus and the GOP establishment.
I think he'd be an idiot if he took Trump's VP.

Did I ever call it wrong about Trump. Six months ago I said somewhere on here that there was no way he'd ever get the nomination. Anyone got any crow handy for me to eat.
Same here.

It has emboldened the belief that maybe the average American voter really is as dumb as reported.

I have to admit, I am very dismayed and torn as to what I will do now that Kasich is out.

With the 2nd Amendment and numerous other pillars of our society at risk, and Hillary already setting out her anti-2nd Amendment stances in this campaign cycle, and the open seat on the SCOTUS at play, I am very concerned over what my vote and other's votes could mean for the future of our country in ways that they have never really meant before.

It's said almost every election, but this time it's real - no election has had so much of a potential impact on the future of our Constitution, the Rule of Law, and our future as a nation, as does the election for President this November. With Hilary versus Trump, the choices are damned bad on the one hand, and just as damned bad on the other hand but for different reasons.

I'm almost sick over this. I have a painful reminder every day of the sacrifices I have made for the Constitution and our way of life. I'm starting to feel like it is being thrown away by our country's citizens as just another meaningless old idea.
And if she wins, which I think she will, she gets the open SC nomination.

Thanks Chuck & Mitch.

I didn't know if you had seen this or not - Jon Huntsman: I could get behind Donald Trump
Oh, God, no. Huntsman is one of the few politicians I respect.

And then there was one.

Article is here.

Yup exactly.

All my favorites are not gone: Christie, Jeb, and Kasich.

This means I now need to hold my nose and kiss Trumps ugly azz and vote for him to try to beat Hillary.

Trump will need swing states though.

Several swing states have high Latino populations.

Colorado, Florida, and Texas (which is NOT a swing state but which has high Latino population) all have high Latino populations.

I think Trump will wish he had taken a more moderate stance on Latino immigration like Rubio, before very long.

As long as the Senate stays in McConnell's hands he can prevent ANY nominations from being approved.

But then there have been predictions that the Senate will change hands too in November. This is due to demographics.

Trump on the GOP ticket won't help either. It will probably hurt.

Kasich would turn down VP if Trump offered.

I forgot how fast this forum makes you clean up your typo's:

All my favorites are NOW gone ... .

we were talking about this earlier.
we have a feeling that it could be Rubio or Kasich.

Kasich won't take it but Rubio is a possibility, although I believe Trump said he would pick someone with experience. Trump trails Hillary in Florida. He has to win that state or he might as well start another reality show.

I'm hoping a legitimate third party candidate will step forward, not an idiot who has zero chance of winning.

True.

Rubio has no political future anyhow.

That's going to be a requirement, of course. Anyone who has a semblance of a career in politics in the future will avoid a Trump VP nomination like a cattle prod.

If Trump needs to win Florida, Rubio would be a horrible pick....considering that not only couldn't Rubio even win his home state, didn't he finish 3rd? His approval ratings in Florida are not very good.

Won't happen. Too many Republican Senate seats up for grabs in blue states. Dems will take the Senate this year. However, the GOP will take it back in 2018 due to more Dem seats being in danger. To avoid losing the Senate in 2018, the Dems will have to pick off 8 or 9 seats this year, and I don't see that happening.

Most experts whom I have heard agree with you completely on this. So you are probably right.

The experts have been saying that for the past 3 election cycles and the Republicans still hold the majority.

I seriously doubt that Kasich would be Trump's VP. 1) Trump needs a Washington guy, not a governor (understood that Kasich WAS a Washington guy, but it was 15-20 years ago and 2) I really doubt Kasich would take the job for a whole host of reasons, including that I doubt he wants to validate Trump.

....yeah, the Rubio certainly flexed his political muscle in Florida on primary day...

I think most Floridians don't like Rubio, mostly because he was awol doing his job while being a candidate and he doesn't have the experience Trump said he was looking for.

um, the experts had been predicting a Republican take back of the Senate since 2010 (though 2010 was far fetched), which did not actually occur until 2014.

Carly Fiorina suddenly has some free time now?
