SC Confederate Flag Taken Down From State Capitol in South Carolina

Please make your point more clear because it seems that you are arguing against my position as to why Goldwater was against the civil rigs act but then posting a quote as to why he was for it which was exactly what I said...

The part about Goldwater giving aid and comfort to segregationists, racists and radicals is what I was trying to impress.

He may not have been a racists, but he gave those segregationists, racists and radicals voice, and he stood under the umbrella with them.

This point holds absolutely no relevance to what I was implying with my argument. If I pass a law in a fictitious mental constructed society, called x, and the law states "people can believe in whatever political or religious doctrines according to their own subjective preferences" that means, according to critiques that enjoy he usage of straw man arguments and fallacies, I am giving direct aid to neo nazis because now it is legal in country x for people that are citizens to believe in neo national socialism...

The only relevance to my claim your argument holds is it proves even more substantially as to why someone would be quick to call berry Goldwater a racist simply because he believed in limited government. My point was, people wil regather history and attempt to demonize people in certain instances when it doesn't necessarily hold relevance to the issue. Such as, Barry Goldwater saying government should not have a right to invade private business means 50 years from now a majority of the states lemmings will assume if you are pro private business you are now a racist...

Should have been kept flying high and proud! UNfortunately SC's spineless jellyfish of a governor had to cave to political correctness.

Browsing Archives:

What a mistake this was, For a second generation immigrant Nikki Haley to strip South Carolinians of their
history, and their heritage, this is the political correctness on steroids.

If she wanted to show a connection with the fallen blacks another action would have been more appropriate.

The eight-foot statue on the grounds of the South Carolina statehouse of 'Pitchfork' Ben Tillman has
been standing for more than 50 years. It was dedicated in 1940, and lauds his “life of service and
achievement” but does not note his beliefs about race. Tillman “a noted white supremacist who
unapologetically advocated lynching any black who tried to vote.”

Pitchfork Ben, South Carolina Governor (1890–1894) & Senator (1895–1918)
spent most of his life trying to reassemble a world in which white landowners were the rulers
and black people were subordinate. To do that, he built a social movement of white landowners,
which he levered into two terms as governor, then four terms as a U.S. Senator.

To take down the Tillman Statue would have been a more appropriate measure to
demonstrate support than to take down the southern battle flag that many in that state
followed bravely. The Tillman statue afterall is on the same capital grounds.

Ben Tillman was the founder of Clemson College Haley's alma mater, Tillman Hall
has the university's clock tower and is the Universities signature building. The flag
is gone & Tillman is still memorialized Haley jumped at the chance to join the administration
as UN Ambassador, a downgrade from being a US Senotor perhaps realizing re-election
was in jeopardy,
