South Carolina governor: Confederate flag comes down Friday

Just because she does the right thing, doesn't necessarily make her any less Republican. Don't understand why people can't see that.

And yet liberals all over the country still can't explain what difference this will make. Will depressed deprived people somehow not find symbols of hate to use to justify their hatred? Will they somehow stop using the Confederate flag to do it? Will anything really change at all? This has been something liberals have wanted to do for decades and not once in that time period have they convinced the south that their flag is about racism. The polls still to this very day in fact say that 57% of the population disagrees with them. I suppose however it fine to stand for democracy and ignore the people. Hell, with liberals it's just rhetoric. The people are what matters is what I'm told by them constantly, but I suppose ignoring them when it suits you is fine too. Funny how that works.

The South still has a long way to go, but taking down a symbol of hate that hung over the state capital is a good start to showing that BLACK LIVES MATTER!!!

Because it's not the right thing and her reasons were trash.

 Politics as Theater. But, if it makes them feel good, hey, it's their state.

Hah. We were pushed into this by outside pressure and media hysteria. The flag wasn't on the radar until some idiot decided it made a good scapegoat for the Charleston shootings.

So don't vote for her in the next election.

She's had her two terms as Gov. Expect she'll be running on the national stage next time.

Wholly concur, but they are still your reps. If they want to dance on stage, that's your business, not mine.

People should be given recognition when they do good things regardless of what their political lean may be.

I agree. I think what she did was fantastic. Too bad so many of the right will vilify her now. Her political career is probably over, all for doing the right thing. :?

Yes, she probably will be. Do you suppose she will be under consideration as a Veep running mate?

I had to laugh at the media as NBC was on yesterday about this flag issue and it showed to people that thought it should not be taken down but they picked tow very light skinned if not albino very rotund couple and the guy had a long beard and hat and both wearing t-shirts. Rachel Maddow could not have done better in picking a couple to comment on the flag coming down. How hideous the media has become.

Yep they pick the sane people in the crowd. Interesting that my local station sent a black reporter down there to cover it.

Removing history because you're a jellyfish is never a good thing. She did not have to cave but chose to.

This assumes that she was supportive of keeping the confederate flag there in the first place. Was she?

The first time they tried to take it down she was supportive of keeping it. Now that someone else made it a scapegoat she caved to the naysayers. In other words she's a typical politician.

Source? Quotes? Something?

Surely you don't remember, it was not long ago the flag was flying on top of the Capitol Dome.

I asked you to substantiate your claim that she was supportive of keeping it up. If you can't, then that's fine. However, it's pretty bad etiquette to simply lob out a claim without anything to back it up other than your words.
