Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse[W:79]

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

It is YOU HENRIN who claimed knowledge in these areas and could apply it to someone you never met never talked to or never communicated with in any way and the only thing you know about him is public information which is very incomplete.

It is YOUR claimed skills that are indeed the problem.

No, my knowledge in all things is impeccable. *takes drink of beer*

It is more than likely what he did based on the evidence. Men that are depressed like he was are likely to blame their low self esteem on others which might cause major shifts in their world view. It's not all rare for these people to want to be associated with something bigger themselves like a movement, symbol, flag, organization, etc.

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

The flag didn't have anything to do with what he did. The flag symbolizes his motivations; it's not that hard to comprehend.

And you know this because he told you this? And taking that flag down means what...there are no more symbols to motivate racists, am I right?

Nothing "symbolized" his motives. His motives were his motives. If it makes you feel better pretending that the flag had anything to do with what he did, fine by me.

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

150 years plus no one killed influenced by that flag. One guy does it to Obama's people and there has to be a national crisis, a tear filled gnashing of teeth on the floor of the state house.....lest it happen again in the next 150 years.

One guy, in 2015....and that flag flew there for generations. Has this country gotten dumber, more naïve, or just guiltier about things that nobody alive had anything to do with?

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

There was a guy in New York once said a dog made him kill people, they named him Son of Sam.

How come dogs weren't banned?

He wouldn't have killed all of those people if the dog had not spoken to him. Just like Dylann Roof wouldn't have killed all those people if not for that flag.

I never said it had anything to do with what he did, you did. And yes, he told everyone that he killed them because they are black, no one had to do any real detective work, there. And yes, the confederate flag is a racist symbol, it just is. You can't disassociate the flag with racism, you just can't.

And no, racism isn't solved now. The world isn't free from all it's problems, but the world is a slightly better place now that a part of our government isn't flying the confederate flag on public grounds. Why does everything have to be so black and white?

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

It was treason, it was the failed rebellion of a (potential) nation, and one of the reasons that war was fought was indeed to retain the right to keep people as property.

If people want to invest it with other properties, that's fine. That's their right, but to deny that it also means some very valid, *factual* things to others is ridiculous.

What I also think is ridiculous is that states continued to fly that flag and yet still take plenty of $$$$$$$ from the feds. Kind of an immature denial, like 'you can make us comply but we dont have to like it!'

By no means do I think it should be removed everywhere, esp not from historical sites.
It's an important part of our history.

Not for people like me who have no ancestors who fought on the Confederate side in the Civil War. I see it as a racist emblem.

The world is a better place because the Confederate flag isn't going to fly in the state capital in SC. Holy ****, I desperately wish I lived the Shangri-La with the rest of you all.

That's like saying "Everything was just fine until one woman refused to move to the back of the bus." No....the systemic oppression of Jim Crow was there, but it took a symbolic act to finally reach that tipping point where people will act.

Just because people offended by that flag lived quietly under it for generations doesnt mean it was right for the govt to fly it...Its being recognized as a symbol of slavery and racism isnt new....otherwise that psycho Roof wouldnt have fastened onto it in the first place.

My good God...

In any thread where the libs are taking a deserved shellacking, whether its Hilary's lies, Obama's racism, or this ****ing charade, there is no liberal too low not to try to deflect with a completely irrelevant insult.

For God's sake man will you people grow some balls? If this is so right, tell us why? Use words, not some photoshopped picture, use logic and explain in detail how this war on an emblem [an emblem I consider a stupid relic of a stupid time] is going to change mass killings by the mentally ill.

You know, the reason Amerikan liberals disgust me is that you have no backbone. When Obama is caught red handed lying the lie of the century, rather than admit the creep lied, you all run from the debate and complain the coverage is imbalanced.

Now here, in this where we are questioning the drama queen bull**** on the floors of what should be a house of sober thought, your best defense is to hurl the word "abortion"...the internet equivalent of yelling 'fire' in a theatre.

That truly is cowardice.

My my my.... Look at all that emotion pouring out in that post. Too funny.

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

You ignore that those blacks view it as a symbol of hate because that is what it was used for since the 1950's. Those that see it otherwise are just ignoring history not embracing it or honoring it. Blame the racists that poisoned the flag not the blacks that remember.

Why the Confederate Flag Made a 20th Century Comeback

I'm sick of correcting that drivel. Anyone else want to go over it again?

Sorry, I have no idea who "that psycho Long" is.

You would ignore history? Not very smart, as the old saying goes......

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

I'm waiting for the Japanese Americans who were captured and jailed and deported and whose lives were ruined by FDR to demand that the FDR Drive be renamed.

My guess is that you'll still be waiting a long time from now.

Oh sorry, Roof.

I went back and corrected it. Thanks

I was saying that you said that part of my argument was that the flag had something to do with what he did, and I never said that. And yeah, it does make the world a little better. Not much, but a little better. Seriously, what's wrong with a little better?

So in the so called "reality" you have constructed for yourself out of your own self imposed belief system - there is no possible connection between a man who intentionally murders nine innocent African Americans in an African American church because he wants to start a race war against African Americans and the symbol of legal slavery over African Americans and subsequent decades of Jim Crow segregation of African Americans.

Thats a neat trick but I guess people with that sort of condition do it constantly and never think twice about it..... or most other things for that matter.

I never said that you made it part of your argument, and in fact, I said that other people were saying it (when you told me emphatically that nobody was saying that). You may want to reread the posts.

Okay, the world is a little better place. Yay! If it takes the removal of a flag that represents people who lost a war 150 years ago, all of whom are now dead, to make the world a better place, then hooray! Victory...or something like it.

I'll wait for some really big things to happen that make the world a better place, like the cure for cancer, the end of animal and child abuse, and so on. That's just me.

Re: Jenny Horne's tearful Confederate flag speech shakes S. Carolina statehouse

I would have voted to keep the flag just to spite her whiny emotional retard ass. Get yourself together, woman.

That's how I read it, if not, no big deal.

And it's more than that. It's a symbol of hate for a lot of people. That flag has a history that is not very pretty, and if I was black, I'd personally be really offended by it. Can't you see how someone would genuinely feel discomfort that they were paying their government to fly a flag that symbolizes slavery, that symbolizes Jim Crow? Can't you see how taking that down is a good thing?

Seriously, calm down and be happy about a good thing.

I'm not on the target list to be happy. This is for the black people. If they're happy, then good for them. I never knew anyone who owned a slave. I also never knew anyone who was a slave.

What I said is that it is highly likely his depressed state of mind had a considerable part to play in why he was racist and associated himself with the flag.

What I said is that it is highly likely his depressed state of mind had a considerable part to play in why he was racist and associated himself with the flag.

I believe it was his extremist politics which made him crazy and not the reverse. I cannot prove that - but all the evidence points to it.

Anyone else happy they arent married to Jenny Horne? Id rather be dead.
