U.S. South Carolina House Approves Bill to Remove Confederate Flag

Of course you are...you are getting all hateful of people because they disagree with you. YOU support FORCING people to do things they dont want to do. Normally the tyrant does not know he is a tyrant (even though I am directly telling you).

THEY dont think they are racist...but you know them better than they know themselves apparently. You...on your porch (I am there with you, for free)...know people 2000 miles away BETTER than they know themselves. Some ego you have there.

Maybe your tears blurred your eyes and you couldnt read what I wrote. I wrote the opposite of the bold. Never called anyone racist. Never used the word, said people could do and believe as they like.

Hmmm....I am such a brutal tyrant! :lamo

How's SC being forced to do anything? They've faced protests and economic hardships over this flag for years and haven't taken it down. Now, after the Charleston shooting, the legislature of SC has decided to take it down.

Expressing an opinion isn't "forcing" someone to do something. South Carolina exercised its "state right" to fly the flag, and has now exercised that same right to take it down.

Because of ONE obviously mentally ill nutjob. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

One guy, in 2015....and that flag flew there for generations.

That's like saying "Everything was just fine until one woman refused to move to the back of the bus." No....the systemic oppression of Jim Crow was there, but it took a symbolic act to finally reach that tipping point where people will act.

Just because people offended by that flag lived quietly under it for generations doesnt mean it was right for the govt to fly it...Its being recognized as a symbol of slavery and racism isnt new....otherwise that psycho Roof wouldnt have fastened onto it in the first place.

The only thing I am cheering on is people being allowed to be proud of where they come from. Im proud of my state, why cant they be proud of theirs? Why cant LIBS simply DISAGREE with someone, instead of FORCING people to submit to their radical PC beliefs?

I dont have a problem because Im tolerant and not a sensitive hipster ***** liberal douche (Ive went over this already). I would recommend that you join the club.

Stop being proud of human trafficking and slavery. It was ugly, and if you support it............................

It’s part of your cultural destruction and before you laugh, think of this. If anyone had suggested six months ago that they’d ban the confederate flag, wouldn’t they have been laughed off the forum? How about gun restrictions, mass immigration, socialised medical care . . . are they now a conspiracy theory? Your constitution hasn’t saved you from it. The constitution wasn’t designed to protect you from yourselves.

On no official form in the UK will you find the nationality ‘English’ – there is no English anymore, although it’s still allowed to be used as a personal term. You’re either British, UK, or European citizen. The English flag, red cross with white background is banned by many local councils – apparently it upsets the minorities, as it was the flag used during the crusades and is considered a symbol of oppression, (hint - confederate flag).
It’s all part of the shift to degrade the indigenous population culture.

I bet you hate me right now. I am living in your head rent free.

Ahhhh but it only matters what YOU think and you dont even live in SC....you live in the hippy north west where you are racist if your black tires are underinflated.

You are on a roll today, brother. Reading through this thread what I see is a bunch of people who got what they wanted and they are STILL pissed off, probably because the South Carolinians didn't go on a crying jag.

It's not being banned....the govt is not forcing anyone to stop flying it or not sell it. Some businesses, networks, etc have made that decision....that's their decision, based most likely on their bottom line and yeah, I think it's an over-reaction.

But the govt isnt banning it...just removing it from govt property.

Major blow the rebel slavelords.

Looks like the old south is never coming back!

I hope its all of the ones who caved

It will be interesting to see what happens when those elections come up. Because I doubt those politicians were upholding the will of their citizens.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's true that MOST southerners see the Confederate flag as a symbol of heritage, etc. I was born and raised in deep south Louisiana. Spent several months in Tennessee, and drove the whole way from Louisiana. Drove to Florida, crossing Mississippi and Alabama on the way. Not once in my entire life in the south did I see the Confederate flag flown or hear it referenced, or hear anyone say anything about our proud heritage during or before the Civil War. (Altho it's possible I saw it in a window of a pickup truck on the highway but don't remember that.)

I think it is a symbol for SOME southerners who are extremist or maybe even white supremacy sympathizers or say they revere the flag because they don't want the liberals to win an argument (as the southerners see it). If it were really a symbol of some proud heritage in the south by a LOT of southerners, I would have heard about it or seen the flag somewhere. It seems as if this symbol thing with the flag is mainly in a two or three states, and only some of the people there.
If you are right then none of these politicians will lose their jobs as a result of taking down the confederate flag.

Yep with any luck the ones who caved to political correctness will be looking for another line of work

With any luck they will be gone and the new batch will have some sense. Take governor jellyfish with them. Thank God for small favors, she can't run again

But it's not political correctness. It's the right thing to do, and it's done. Btw, the SC legislature is very heavily republican, and they took that flag down.

Same as the UK, I thought it was a blanket ban though, so my mistake. I do think a ban will follow in the not too distant future.

Appropriate move, though they had little choice and there's no pat on the back to these guys. Georgia removed it fourteen years ago, without such intense pressure.

Actually Georgia still has the Confederate flag flying high. Most people don't realize it though. Georgia's new flag download.jpg First Confederate National Flagstars-and-bars-flag.jpg

I dont think so. Is it illegal to fly a Nazi flag or display the swastika? I dont think that was ever banned.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong :)

Yes, I'm afraid you're wrong. In some countries it is not only illegal to fly a Nazi flag, but even denying the holocaust happened is a criminal offence - and they do prosecute.

Inciting racial hatred. This Aussie guy made a youtube video where he went to a kosher grocery store, having a go at them about Palestine. I think he complained about them on previous videos. He went to jail for three years. I think he hooked up with an american lady on Stormfront and went over there to live with her.

Anyway, if you want to critisize someone for their race here, do it privately. Don't try to convince other people of your views, just tell a person of a different race what you think of them. And even then be prepared for a **** storm.

In the US? I know it's illegal in Germany.

Not in the U.S., in ''some countries''. The U.S. still has free speech, as do their forums.

Good thing that's not the case here because Lord have mercy the conspiracy theorists would all be in jail. Wait maybe that's a good thing haha
