US reportedly blocks Arab allies' attempts to deliver weapons to Kurds fighting ISIS | Fox News

The U.S. has reportedly blocked any attempts by Middle East allies to fly weapons to the Kurds fighting the Islamic State in Iraq.

The Telegraph reports that U.S. allies say President Obama and other Western leaders, including Britain’s David Cameron, aren’t showing leadership over the escalating ISIS crisis in Iraq, Syria and throughout the Middle East.

These allies are now willing to “go it alone” in giving heavy weaponry to the Kurds, even if it means defying Iraq and the U.S. who want all weapons to be funneled through Baghdad, according to the newspaper.
What is up with the Senate?

I have some ideas about this.
First, it's just the matter of controlling the process and being the only one in charge.
Second, to control and to be in charge of what? I feel, it's the whole situation in the Middle East, ISIS advance included.
Third, somebody needs ISIS to be where it is. Or doesn't want it to be destroyed too fast. Otherwise, ISIS would have been annihilated by now, especially after everything they have done. But no... For some reason, the alliance of the most powerful countries in the world can't do anything to them. Or doesn't want to...

I basically agree with you.

If accurate, this is a disappointing situation. The Kurds in Iraq and those in Syria are among each country's only moderate and pragmatic elements. While I can understand the U.S. position given its support for the Iraqi government, which has remained sectarian in nature despite the pledges of its Prime Minister, such a stance has not been very effective. The Kurds have done the heavy lifting on the ground against ISIS and have demonstrated the kind of courage, desire to defend their territory, and respect for civilians that Iraq's forces and the other warring parties in Syria have not.
