Nicholas Winton, a Briton who said nothing for a half-century about his role in organizing the escape of 669 mostly Jewish children from Czechoslovakia on the eve of World War II, a righteous deed like those of Oskar Schindler and Raoul Wallenberg, died on Wednesday in Maidenhead, England. He was 106.

It was only after Mr. Winton’s wife found a scrapbook in the attic of their home at Maidenhead, in 1988 — a dusty record of names, pictures and documents detailing a story of redemption from the Holocaust — that he spoke of his all-but-forgotten work in the deliverance of children who, like the parents who gave them up to save their lives, were destined for Nazi concentration camps and extermination.
A good man, who saved many.

Thanks for posting the story... His death is a stark reminder that we are quickly approaching the end of an era, as the last survivors of WWII and America's greatest generation pass on. Speaking for myself, I guarantee that when that day arrives it will be a tearful one.

Oprah Winfrey says good riddance.

It wont be long and we will no longer have brave people in this world....bravery is stigmatized, the brave among us are hated by some because sometimes they have to do things that look bad....good people have turned their backs on their protectors. I wish we could go back to a time where bravery was admired.

Oh well....at least we have gay marriage and socialism.

A brave man, who did so much good in the world. RIP.
