State Supreme Court rules against Ten Commandments monument at Capitol

Not even close -- 7 to 2 decision; but just like Alabama's Chief Justice telling officials to wait 25 days (at least)while he contemplates the ramifications of the Obergefell decision, before they issue marriage license to same-sex couples, Oklahoma's AG is saying the Ten Commandments monument doesn't need to be removed at this time because he is asking for a re-hearing.

State Supreme Court rules against Ten Commandments monument at Capitol

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Tuesday said the Ten Commandments monument at the state Capitol must be removed.
The plaintiffs said its placement at the Capitol constituted the use of public property for the benefit of a system of religion, which is banned by the Oklahoma Constitution. Because the monument operates for the use, benefit or support of a sect or system of religion, it violates the Oklahoma Constitution, the five-page opinion said.

The part it violates reads: “No public money or property shall ever be appropriated, applied, donated, or used, directly or indirectly, for the use, benefit, or support of any sect, church, denomination, or system of religion, or for the use, benefit, or support of any priest, preacher, minister, or other religious teacher or dignitary, or sectarian institution as such.”

In the case of the monument it seems okay. As for SSM, he should stop government all marriage till the logical consequences of the USSC decision for all marriage have been better contemplated longer.
