All symbols of the Confederacy are rapidly disappearing from stores, websites and the public square in the wake of last week's racially charged shooting in a Charleston, S.C., church, but the purge of some allegedly hateful icons has spared memorabilia linked to some of history's most infamous mass murderers, some critics are charging.

Amazon.com has now banned all Confederate battle flag items from being sold on its site, but the massive e-commerce site continues to allow the sale of dozens of apparel items featuring communist mass murderers such as Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin and Che Guevara, prompting some to accuse the site and others banning Confederate imagery of hypocrisy.

So....anyway care to defend Amazon.com and it's support for murderous commies?

No, let's just celebrate the fact that everybody is voluntarily rejecting this symbol of racism and treason.

Oh come on. More people associate the Confederate flag with the Dukes of Hazzard than they do with racism. It is a rebel flag. Don't fall for the PC purge.

Sad thing is I can hear my granddaddy turning over in his grave right now. He warned me for years that this kind of thing was gonna happen, and he was sadly right. Of course someone forgot to tell Mitch McConnell that there is at least one monument to President Davis that he cannot get his paws on. I know where it is also.

American history is American history and covering it up will not help anyone, but go ahead and be a bunch of ******s and make it impossible to buy a certain pattern on cloth. All it does is make you look like cowards though.

The rebels were racists and traitors.

So tired of hearing this. Prove that they were traitors and that all of them were racist. Show me one single court case of someone convicted for treason that served under that flag. Prove that every single person that fought under that flag was racist.

It's a marketing craze right now, I wouldn't be too upset over it. Amazon is still selling WWII German uniforms and officer's hats etc. It'll all go away with time.

the confederate purge has done nothing to rid america of the flag, infact specialty sites still sell them, and in the last week i have seen more of the rebel flag than ever before.just like guns and ammo, the scare of a ban or rejection boosted sales, even to people who had no interest before, suddenly wanted it because they were afraid they couldnt buy it.

The rebels were racists and traitors.

Stop it. That flag has been around for 150 years and all of the sudden there is all this phony moral outrage and it has to be banned from sight. You need to resist the PC cleansing of history.

So it bans anything related to the Confederacy, yet has no problem selling replicas of uniforms from a dictatorship that tried to, among other things, annihilate an entire ethnic group

The Confederate Flag fight has been strictly symbolic, but that doesn't negate it. We have to come to terms with country's racist past, including racist symbolism. Read more at Why Symbols Matter | Sam Hillestad

So you think the only flag that flew over legalized slavery in the USA is the Confederate flag?

Because more customers are upset by confederate flags right now than Che t-shirts.

Don't think there was ever any motivation besides profit.

Yes. Because right now that's what the market wants.

:doh Such a ridiculous and loaded demand. There were likely SS infantrymen who themselves were not anti-semitic, but the goals they advanced certainly were. Similarly, the leaders of the Confederacy and its individual states swore to fight for the subjugation of blacks and the US government, individual exceptions notwithstanding. Insisting that one prove such a thing is just transparent apologism.

No, it was the only flag that represented the faction that fought and died attempting to perpetuate the institution of slavery. If I had a nickel for everytime I've seen this phony, half-ass argument I'd be posting from a Yacht.

The KKK uses a cross, lit on fire, so should the government ban the Christian cross? Oh... wait...

I have no problem with removing the cloth battle flags from government office buildings or capital buildings. I have a major problem with removing or defacing monuments which memorialize the men that died for the state in which they lived - which includes a number of my direct ancestors. Even if those monuments have a carved depiction of the battle flag.

JMHO

Bad analogy since SS infantrymen where never declared traitors. Also there were several leaders of those infantrymen who WERE prosecuted for war crimes but not the infantrymen unless they really did something horrible. Can you even do that much in regards to the Confederates?

In any case no, they were not traitors. Anyone that thinks that they were does not understand US history nor what the term "traitor" means.

Way to miss the point entirely. I never said the SS were traitors, but rather that you can assign negative (and accurate) characteristics to a group without accounting for every individual within said group for the sake of finding exceptions. That's simply a ridiculous demand and one that cannot be taken seriously. The goals of the Confederacy were racist in nature, by the words of their own leaders.

 Opinions may vary:

a person who is not loyal to his or her own country, friends, etc.

Actually, no it was not. You don't even know this much and you're posting about it? This was the flag of the Confederacy:
