18 killed in China Ramadan attack

Muslims have killed at least 18 people with knives and bombs – just days after being banned from fasting during Ramadan.

The savage attacks took place in the Chinese region of Xinjiang, just days after the Communist government cracked down on the holy month.

Armed police responded by shooting 15 suspects dead.

The shoot-out began when a car sped through a police checkpoint, knocking an officer over – before two passengers jumped out and attacked him with knives.

Three more attackers then arrived at the checkpoint in Kashgar, the country's westernmost city, armed with explosives.

Lu Kung, a spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry, did not immediately verify the reports – which is not unusual for such attacks.

He said: "But if it true, then the Chinese government has the responsibility to take the resolute steps to stop these kind of violent terror attacks to maintain peace and stability in Xinjian."

That is always a danger of forbidding people their religious practices. But a good dictatorship can usually quash resistance to a point.

Uyghur turks are killed by chinese government but you just start these threads when islamists attack the others.you know they are islamist ,not ordinary muslim

Muslim attacks are so common now, they barely raise a shrug. Get this one over with and wait for the next one. China will now round up those others involved, a quick trial and a bullet in the back of the head. Big round of applause from me and less adherents to this evil cult.

P.S. I think you'll find the Chinese government don't ban religion. This thing with the Chinese Muslims is not the first time they've done this.

There should be no correlation drawn between the actions of these people and the islamist attacks in the West. These people in the western provinces are not the Han Chinese, so they are heavily persecuted. During Ramadan, they are forced to violate many of their own religious principles, such as keep their restaurants open and not fast. They can not cover themselves except with a headscarf for women, and prayer calls are forbidden. No, religion is not banned, it is just controlled by the government in all manners of administration to give the appearance for freedom of religion. I have been in the western provinces, even as a guest of the government, and my own experiences there, such as in Qinhai, are that the minorities, in particular those of the muslim faith, are the nicest, most honest, and endearing people in this nation. Like the Tibetans, any actions they take I can only relate to their being marked by this government for liquidation as a people.

How would one even go about banning people from fasting? How would they know?

This is why we have the first amendment.

Chinese goverment violates human rights however Muslims are only making it worse by responding with violence.Those who respond to discrimination with violence will never get respect.
