Marines looking at deploying aboard foreign ships

Such whining. My nephew went with several other nations in Afghanistan in the year he was there, traveled with them, stayed at their bases, documented them dismantling their bases, etc. So what? This is anger for the sake of anger.

No. Our ship borne forces can't even be effectively deployed because of the myopic budget decisions of a weak president.

Such whining.

Not whining, SpaceX and Orbital are both working on crew capsules and rockets.

As is Boeing (but at an inflated cost to the taxpayers). It will happen. The shuttle was a great technical vehicle, but not necessary. You don't need a Lamborghini to drive to the corner store, the right way to get into space is simple rockets. And SpaceX is working on having all stages of the rocket come back and land, upright on the ground, for re-use. It is wonderful and why they have the cost advantage.

They are also coming close to having rockets land upright on gps controlled barges. They have come close, private space ventures are the modern day frontier, actually.

we spend (waste) over 600 billion on defence and there is a shortage of U.S. Navy ships, were does all this money go??

Where does the money go? Nobody really knows for sure, but I can recall seeing many millions of defense dollars, $100 bills in shrink-wrap, being wheeled around in Iraq in wheelbarrows in bunkers by US troops with Paul Bremer 'supervising'. I wonder how much was wheeled "out of the system" that way?
