Obamacare repeal would blow out the deficit - Jun. 19, 2015

The report, from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, flies in the face of Republicans who have repeatedly claimed that the United States can not afford Obamacare. The report also finds that repeal of the Affordable Care Act would result in 19 million individuals losing their health insurance as early as next year and an estimated 24 million by 2020.

The report does find that the ACA is a drag on the economy, although not for the reason that most Conservatives might suspect (e.g. Employers trying to cut costs by not hiring). Instead, the primary source of the drag on the economy is the prediction that fewer individuals will choose to join the workforce if they are able to obtain access to affordable health care without working.

What are you thoughts on the report? And assuming that the Supreme Court upholds the legality of the ACA subsidies supplied to federally run exchanges (as most legal experts predict), what types of suggestions would you make for improving the law?

Now the Democrats care about debt and deficit ?

What type of changes would I suggest for changing the law ?

Repeal it.

Oh I don't think that this proves Democrats care about the deficit, but it certainly takes away an argument from conservatives who still wish to repeal the law because of it's alleged impact on the deficit.

replace it with Medicare for all.

Repeal it because if its impact on the economy and on the Middle class

A growing economy equates to higher revenue and less dependance.

We could save allot more than a 100 Billion dollars if the law was gone completely

States like Cali Colorado will be OK they run their own exchanges..

If they repeal it, the Southern states will suffer the most, which is Fine and dandy with me, they vote for the garbage party anyways, if they get cancer , and have no HC let em die I don't give a ****..

Not really. As the CBO pointed out in their typically understated way, if the ACA is playing any role in the huge and historic drop in health care cost growth (something they've conservatively opted not to incorporate into their financial estimates), then undoing those cost controls is going to be a lot more expensive for everyone than they've indicated in this analysis.

Over the longer term, there is particular uncertainty about the ways that providers of health care will respond to the ACA’s reductions in the updates to Medicare’s payment rates and about whether repealing the ACA would weaken pressures for cost control that may have contributed to a broad slowdown in spending growth for health care.
Nevertheless, it is difficult to dismiss the argument that implementation of the ACA’s provisions has in some way fostered a focus on cost control that has encouraged slower growth in spending. As one analysis concluded recently, however, “it is impossible to quantify how much the ACA has truly contributed to the reduced spending projections over time”—at least until more extensive data and analyses are available.30 Reflecting that view, CBO and JCT have not incorporated such an effect into this estimate. But to the extent that such an effect has occurred and would continue under current law, repealing the ACA would generate a larger increase in federal deficits than is estimated here. Specifically, repealing the ACA would cause spending on Medicare and Medicaid to grow more rapidly—and the substantial costs of the tax preference for employment-based health insurance to grow more quickly —than is reflected in this estimate.

Read my post dumb****, I said folks in Cali will be covered if they repeal it...

Your beloved cesspool south will have to use the local ER when they get sick, which eventually they will, since the South is the sickest, unhealthiest part of the country with the shortest life expectancy..

Who do you think pays for the 20 or 30 thousand ER hospital bill, ?? Perhaps more when those poor ass rednecks can't????

I can't help but get that tingling feeling in my leg when I hear Cons, tea maggots try to bang on Cali the 8th largest economy in the World! It also won't be giving any of your ****ty ass Presidential candidates their 55 electoral college votes, and as icing Cali helped the North kick your ass in the civil war...

AND California's folks are covered , your pathetic ass folks won't be able to go see a doctor if they get sick, LOL..

you do realize that their exchanges are failing don't you? their exchanges are underwater and not paying for themselves and taxpayers are going to have to bail them out.

Almost half of Obamacare exchanges face financial struggles in the future - The Washington Post

half of the 17 state exchanges are failing that is a 50%

Where's California going to get the money to run their exchange when the Feds stop subsidizing it ?

California doesn't have any money of their own. Hell, they had to " borrow " 10 Billion dollars from the Federal government to pay for extended unemployment benefits.

Well, kiss that 10 Billion dollars goodbye. Leftist don't pay their bills.

You see, one of the MANY, MANY, MANY short comings of people on the left is their inability to look any further than their own superficial, simplistic narratives.

Oh, and Millions of Californians have picked up and moved everything they own ( including their money...hee hee hee ) to Texas.

So if Texas is a " Cesspool ", whats that make California ?

Hoards of people have picked up everything they own and have moved out of the Blue Plague State YOU live in too.

Whats that make your State ?

CA healthcare exchange is in trouble and the state now has an additional 1.2b dollars in Medicaid expenses that they now have to pay for.
they are going to sink themselves into insolvency.

yet without those exchanges obamacare fails.
there will not be enough people.

umm CA has a state based exchanged and would still be covered by subsidies. although CA exchange is currently having money issues.

go where the jobs are and Austin is becoming the new silicon valley.

I live in Michigan, but still own a home in Cali, will be back there when my contract runs out here..

We've already run this into the ground in at least two other threads. Have a good one.

Why do Cons complain about Taxpayer bailout? When it comes to healthcare, but not when their taxes go down the crapper to finance unwinnable wars in Iraq, Afghanistan that drag on forever??

Why do liberals never address the issue and constantly through out distraction arguments?
please address the fact that the state exchanges are failing.
