From the Washington Post:

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that messages displayed on specialized license plates are a form of government speech, and Texas is free to reject a proposed design that features the Confederate flag.

I think they made the right decision.

Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan voted for the state, but they needed one more....surprise, surprise...Here Comes Da Judge...Clarence Thomas. :shock:

Which begs the question of whether there is a demand in Texas for "Confederate" license plates. Is there?

I was super surprised when I saw that Thomas was the deciding vote.

This was the correct decision. The state has the right to decide. Of course, do those who agree with the decision still agree should the state decide to allow it?
