A woman will appear on redesigned $10 bill in 2020

The only downside is that the $10 dollar bill will only be worth $7.70.

With the way things are going, more like $2.50.

It's amazing really, our government is flooded with debt and this kind of BS is what some people think the government should spend money on.

I would love to see a series of bills with famous American scientists on it, Neil Armstrong, Norman Borlaug, Richard Feynman, Einstein, Carl Sagan, Margaret Mead, Linus Pauling, etc.

There is a great set of alternative currency designs that are just so amazing, here is the 50.

You are aware that Armstrong was an Austronaut and Einstein was German.

I see no one has said it yet so I'm going to. As PC as this country has become I would bet a years subscription to DP that whichever woman is put on the $10 bill it will be a black woman.

Any takers?

Note: this isn't meant as derogatory or that the black woman that is chosen doesn't deserve it. It's just a statement on our politically correct lifestyle that so many push.

Why the $10 dollar bill, why not the $20 dollar bill?

Makes no sense.

If we're doing women, I'd go with Harriet Tubman.

Eistein became an American citizen and is thus also American. This isn't Europe, we don't exclude people like that.

Ignorance of the history of your country is inexcusable.

And that is just a small sample. I usually ignore obvious trolling, but this was a fun exorcize.

You forgot about Marylin Monroe.

That would get my vote for the $10 bill

They look cool, but I much prefer what we have now. Money doesn't need to be artwork.

Presidents and Ben > this stuff.

Money is art.

And I wonder why we have a 25 cent coin and no 20 cent coin..... but a 20 dollar bill and no 25 dollar bill.

Things like that perplex me.

Fair enough.

But, I suppose what I meant is it's not meant to be anything more than minimalist in design. Our money is fine as it is now.

If we are going to do this, I'd much rather remove a scumbag like Jackson from currency, although my opinion of Hamilton isn't too high either. They probably chose $10 because unlike Jackson, Hamilton doesn't have a bizarre following anxious to defend genocide at any opportunity.

It is now politically correct to recognize that women and people of other skin colors took part in creating this country... I swear... The words "politically correct" are becoming a silly expression used by white guys to justify living under a false narrative that it was only white Christian men who built this country.

I wouldn't be surprised if states like Texas actually came out with textbooks declaring that there weren't even people living in this continent before Europeans showed up. It was just a barren wasteland that had waited on the arrival of the British for 5607 years... you know, seeing that the earth is only 6K years old.

Excellent list. I thought nobody else knew about Anne Bradstreet. She was an amazing woman.

I also think Anne Hutchinson would be a good pick.

This is silly. No woman has ever really accomplished anything noteworthy in the history of the country. Rosa Parks?? HAHAHA. There are thousands of men more deserving.

Maybe they should wait a few months and put Hillary on the note to celebrate the first female President.

You were created by a woman so I can somewhat see your side of the argument. I'm not going to waste my time and list all the noteworthy women (thanks redress) but I'd like to see your list of these thousands of men which you claim there are so back it up.

Armstrong had a degree in aeronautical engineering, a Korean war vet, test pilot, and that whole first human ever to walk in the moon, etc.

Einstein became a US Citizen in 1940.

Um.....what?

I'm not a huge fan of taking someone off to put someone else on a bill or coin, but certainly a new denomination. How about a $25 bill?

No! We should replace Jackson or Grant, ideally Jackson, but not Hamilton! I'm fine with putting a women on our currency but don't remove one of our greatest founding fathers to do it!

Wow - the sexism in this thread kills (from the force of my eyes rolling to the back of my head). Obviously we're long overdue for a female on our paper currency simply because so many men think they OWN IT or something.

How do you choose? There's so many.

Harriet Beecher Stowe

Sally Ride

Amelia Earhart

Harriet Tubman

Sacagawea (already been on a coin)

And on and on.....

Women should be on it because they are better at spending the money that their men make. amirite? nudge nudge.

My wife is pretty frugal. I'm the spendthrift of the family. I am blessed. :D
