Re: Tamir Rice:Judge finds cause for Murder charge over police killing 12 year-ol...
You don't understand the neighborhood where Tamir was killed...It is one of those where you don't stop at red lights. I used to drive through there everyday when I worked at a hospital around there. Now, if you were a parent...would you allow your 12 old to play there without you being present? You can't compare the safety of when you were a kid, if you do not understand what it is like in the inner city. I have spent 19 years working inner city hospitals...I have seen just about everything.

I have seen a lot of kids like Tamir and their horrible Mothers. IMO, if you become a parent, it is your responsibility to keep them safe and protect them, the accountability for their safety rests on your shoulders and no one else. She was home during the shooting, her felony record prevented her from getting a job...she has a long record of arrests. She was a drug trafficker and had illegal weapon charges. I had the "bleeding heart empathy" for her at first, then one night at work, the black nurses were talking about her...as I work with a distant relative of Tamir's Mom. I am kind to what they had to say about her. I managed a residents clinic which was a free walk in clinic for vaccines and care, and the things I saw women do to their children has scared me for life and I had to resign. Even tho the care was free, I dealt with a population that was too lazy to even take their children to the doctor, even too lazy to apply and maintain Medicaid status. I saw a 5 year old with lice so bad, that the little girl was balding. The only reason the Mom sought care was because the school would not allow the child to return until the lice was resolved and she would not have the "free time" while he was in school. This is just one example as there are many more of what kids like Tamir suffer from. It just bothers me, when folks, usually the fringe left, rally around people like Tamir's Mom, but are adamant that it is always someone else's fault. In this case, accountability is spread, and women like Tamir's Mother are part of the problem. This is what you are defending, while blaming LE:

Would this be the type of woman you would want raising your kids?
I've seen several references to Tamir's mom on this thread. I guess I'm unclear what the problem is with her. According to the investigation, he spent most days at the community rec center, and he was right by there when shot. What's a better option for him during the day than the community center? When I was his age, I never spent any time at home when not in school. Either riding my bike, shooting BB guns in the nearby woods, fishing, or just wandering around with friends. I had safer options outside, but that's because I grew up in a wealthier and more rural area. But given his neighborhood, where should he go, or does he have to spend all day in his room reading literature for you to approve of her parenting.
You're blaming her for him waving around what was actually a toy given to him THAT DAY. Should Bad Mom have somehow divined from her Tarot cards that he got that gun? If not how does she find out that he has the gun and warn him not to play with it? What opportunity did Bad Mom have to intervene?
