Bernie Sanders wants to take back “family values” from the GOP

And that my friends is how it's done. Don't ever concede BS talking points put forth by your opponents... own it yourself.
It is completely understandable why the dull, the lazy, the uninitiated hand-out crowd would be enticed to vote for a politician who promised to force their employer to give them a raise, or give them months of paid time off, or free health care, or who offers to give them some form of unearned benefit at the expense of their better off neighbors. Despite liberal claims of "progressive" ideology, it is indistinguishable from the Middle Ages cries of "Robbing Peter to pay Paul"

Re: Bernie Sanders lays out REAL family values platform

So he's not a Democrat who is running as a Democrat.

He's a smart man and has a lot of good ideas. If what people say is true, and his ideas resonate with so many, then he shouldn't run with the party who he opposes. If he's using the party to get his ideas out, then all he is doing is making the power of the Democratic Party even more obvious.

Bernie is smart enough to know that he has a better shot at the White House if he runs as a Democrat. He also has the balls to call himself a socialist. There are people, far too many, who will vote for their party regardless. The number of people who have left the two controlling parties has grown and is continuing to grow. Party affiliation means less to people than it has in the past.

Call Sanders a socialist - context would be helpful or call him a Democrat. Either way he certainly doesn't sound like establishment Democrat Hillary Clinton. I think that's a good thing. Sanders also doesn't sound like anyone in the gaggle of GOP candidates. I said this in another post, but I believe Sanders appeals to intellect more than other candidates. It seems people are responding positively to him as a result.

No, he doesn't appeal to the " intellect " at all.

His tired Socialist redistributist message is tailored for morons.

The same people that thinks its a wise decision to give the Government the authority to be the sole arbiter of what's " fair " and " equitable ".

The same people that believe increasing taxes on the wealthy fixes " disparity ".

The same people that think " Stimulus to increase aggregate demand " is how you grow economies.

Re: Bernie Sanders lays out REAL family values platform

I agree with you in theory. The problem is that reality disagrees with us.

It is the reason I no longer vote. Voting doesn't do anything to address the direction I'd like to see the nation take. So I just stay out of it and worry about keeping my wife as happy as I can keep her.

If you don't vote you lose the right to bitch.

no you don't..... not in any shape, form, or fashion.

....besides, a non-vote, in effect, is simply a vote for "none of the above".

Re: Bernie Sanders wants to take back “family values” from the GOP

Bald face lie.

Just because you're in the 20 doesn't mean you need to pout about it!

There's a blank spot on most ballots. You can write in whoever you want. There's no good reason for not participating.

cool story bro!

there are many good reason not to participate.... and the only relevant judge of those reasons is the individual themselves. " I don't want to" is a perfectly valid reason... so is " I'm too lazy to get up"... or " I ****ing hate everyone in the race"... or " My hemorrhoids are flaring up today"
you might find all reasons to be bad, and that's fine too.. but your judgement only matters to you.

in any event, not voting doesn't strip anyone of free speech rights.... anyone can bitch about whatever they want, when they want, for as long as they want.

Re: Bernie Sanders lays out REAL family values platform

Nonsense. It is not hypocritical to criticize the government because I have no way to change it. The government is in the hands of the political machine. You and I have nothing to do with what it does and how it does it. Zero. If you think your vote will transform the government I can only say that is naïve and silly. I'll stick with gridlock and criticize all I like. Who knows? A politician might read what I say. You can bet a politician won't know why you voted the way you voted.

Depends on the locale. Some write-ins have to be accepted write-ins meaning even those write-ins have to be pre-approved by the elections office to keep people from having to count "Mickey Mouse" write ins.

You're right, it's not hypocritical to criticize the government and we all have little power to change it. The hypocrisy is to not try.

It doesn't strip them of their free speech rights, they just lose their moral authority

I tried for years. It is pointless.
