If they make it to the woods, they're home free....at least till winter.

The aderondacks are no joke.

So, one kidnapped and beat a man to death and the other was convicted of first degree murder, serving a life sentence without parole.
Yeah, nice job not having a death penalty NY. Keeps us all safe.
Please do not tell me that capital punishment has never meant "to keep us safe".

I'm for the death penalty, at least in some extreme cases, but I don't really see how this situation would have been guaranteed or even less likely to happen with capitol punishment as an option in the state. Who says these guys would get it? One was serving 25 to life, which is not likely to have been DP even if an option. Who is to say that they wouldn't have actually made it out prior to being executed?

I just saw it on the news.Looks like they had power tools and they popped out of a manhole cover and left their prison garb in the hole.In other words the had lotta help.

Of the 10 most dangerous states to live in, 7 have the death penalty

Which makes it highly likely that if they do head to the woods, they are going to wander in circles for a week, then appear on a road with diarrhea (drinking bad water), covered in bug bites, hungry and desperate.

Capital punishment has really nothing to do with these guys escaping. That's really 2 separate discussions.

Heads are going to roll at that prison. The governor in Ny said there is no way noone heard anything. Given the details we have I tend to agree with him. For inmates to have obtained and used power tools over time with no guard ever hearing anything is beyond belief unless these guards were not doing their jobs.

I'm 100% sure that some guards were not part of this escape. Cutting steel probably makes lots of noise, right? And the most obvious question: Where did the tools come from? Oh, God.

Or just die.

If they were cutting steel with power tools, that **** made a LOT of noise, and it's time consuming. With a decent grinder, it takes a full 2 minutes to cut through just one 1inch x 1inch bar....of IRON. From my experience. Unless they had some very EXPENSIVE toys, cutting steel is slow and loud.

NBC nightly news showed how thick the armor plate was behind the wall and then a 2 foot thick brick wall they had to go through. And they obviously had blueprints or detailed plans to allow them to navigate through pipes and come up one block from the prison safely.

And expert said it would take 30 to 90 minutes to cut through the steel plate with a saw or only four minutes with an acetylene torch.

A resident near the prison said he confronted two men in his yard at 12:30 AM which means they could have had a five to six hour head start and could be a long ways away by morning when they were noticed to be gone.

Prison Depot a great new franchise idea. Power tool rental for those who do not wish to own long term.

they had a LOT of help. Somebody was waiting with clothes, a vehicle, money, and maybe guns for them. now the question is, do they have enough sense to wear disguises, split up and vanish into Canada? They must live in the woods for a year, growing big beards and using small dredges to "pan" gold. Then go to mexico for a year, paying 6-7 surgeons, 1k each, for a small surgery, so that nobody has a before and after picture of them? Also, will they be smart enough to completely avoid everyone and everything from their past life?

So... they cross into Canada, not that it's hard from Plattsburgh, but then after that, they somehow cross back into the US (because flying is out of the question unless they're willing to risk being caught through fake passports) and then cross 5-6 states (minimum) just so that they can go to Mexico and get surgery? Surely, surely there must be an easier way. One that doesn't involve doing an entire scene from Around the World in 80 Days....

Or just die.

Sadly, that is not very likely.

The Adirondacks are not the Mojave or the Sonoras climate and water wise. In addition, the road network could be denser. Though I am sure one could get into trouble in the back areas of the Adirondacks, getting into trouble takes longer and getting out of trouble (finding even a lighly travelled road) could be easier.

If they had help, it is possible they have been planning this for years.
Could have set up false identities, cover stories, ect.
A 5 hour head start with a car, could put them 300 miles away,
before people started looking. Within 24 hours they could be over 1000 miles away.

Two tards with a dremel or something just going at a bar of metal...

I'm still trying to figure out how no one noticed. There was definitely some bribing going on.

Hell, I was working with our carpenter the other day and he was using his dremel oscillating tool to locate nails under the sheetrock (he was installing doors). When the saw and the nails collided, **** my ears were shaking...

It's easy to find spots to walk across into Canada from NY or Vermont. So they're probably up there.

It sounds like they had both inside, and outside help. How the hell do a couple of losers like this get that kind of help? There's guys in prison with a lot more pull and/or money then I suspect these guys had and they can't break out. But these 2 got the help? Weird.

maybe it was a gay thing? :) they might ,to their surprise, have been broken out, just to kill them for silence about something, too.
