President Vladimir Putin tells West not to fear Russia

Very interesting change of tone from Putin. Likely related to the recent meeting with OPEC, and a good sign that things may be starting to stabilize with the Russians

What nobody realised is that US sanctions did not in any way match the great recession.

I'm not scared of Russia. I'm scared of their nukes.

Don't mess with Putin otherwise those 50 states will turn into heaps of nuclear dust.

The U.S. sanctions were part of a bigger picture, EU also have sanctions don't forget, plus the low price of oil, the strong dollar, and the high output by opec certainly put a lot of pressure on the Russian economy

They did and Iran is still smiling all the way.

What about you? arent you a monster? cause to me you are and i hate you, i really, really hate you, you got no idea.

lol, you may as well admit you're either putin himself or some banned hater's sock, cause on this account you've been around all of a minute

i don't need to defend myself in comparison to a tyrant war monger, go troll elsewhere

Hitler began pressing German claims on the Sudetenland whilst at the same time he told the rest of Europe that Germany were not a threat.

i do see a lot of parallels between the two, even hosting an international event while pretending to promote peace, but the real difference is no one can afford a world war now. If not for WMDs, i think putin would be devilish enough to try

And the meaning is that Putin is a destabilizer and spreading the fire. That might be legitimate. It is certainly pushing the world towards war.

Lol. Putin is pushing the world toward war.

Oh no, more Putin/Hitler comps.

Iranian law still favors men, but women in that country are more educated and have a more visible role in life than in many other Islamic countries, such as Saudi Arabia. And things are getting better, according to the first woman to serve as a cabinet secretary in that country.

Yeah, but women have still lost ground from where they were before the Shah was overthrown.

If you had followed what we have discussed over time, you would fully understand, what I said. As it is, you are just griping in a boring way.

I was disputing the claim that Iran is lagging by Middle East standards. Women's rights in Iran are superior to those in Saudi Arabia, our ally. ;)

What do you mean with that?

Only if it's real, and not merely a chess move in a bigger game.

Maybe the more interesting point is that some folks, governments, take actions to seek peace, as others take actions to end peace, make war.

Are you claiming that Russia is like Switzerland?

I'm not sure of the comparison you're trying to make with those 2 countries, but I am claiming that Russia is entitled to Crimea. Might makes right sometimes, and Russia is just as entitled as we are to project a sort of Monroe Doctrine, if you get my drift. Their navy had been there for years before.

Russia is naturally going to protect its adjacent areas, just as humans have done for a long time. Why freak out over it?

That's not the same as saying they're a bunch of peace lovers.

Well I never said they were a bunch of peace lovers. What I said was that with the Minsk agreement, Russia has taken more actions to seek and achieve peace than the US has.

Take up Putin's challenge Radcen--generate a world map showing US bases and military presence and military operations, and then generate one showing Russian bases, military presence and military operations. Compare and contrast, if you dare. ;)
