That wasn't very smart.

NYPD Cop Stole Dead Man's Credit Card to Buy Diamond Ring at Zales: Prosecutors | NBC New York

An NYPD officer is accused of stealing credit card information from a dead man she'd been asked to check on and using it to purchase a diamond ring, authorities say. The accused officer, 30-year-old Ymmacula Pierre, was on the job when she went to an apartment building on East 14th Street in Union Square last July to conduct a wellness check requested by the tenant's family, prosecutors said. It turned out the man who lived there, 65-year-old Ken Sanden, had passed away. After notifying the man's family, Pierre obtained his credit card information and then allegedly bought a $3,200 diamond ring from Zales two days later. She was arrested Tuesday after months of investigation following the credit card fraud last year.

Wow!

How did she ever think she'd get away with that?

I'm a civilian & know I couldn't get away with this!

Plus she's two-time loser - her choice of jeweler sucks, too.

Wow...what an idiot! The idea that they would get away with it AND the fact a 3k ring is worth it. I really can't understand how some people balance risk vs reward.

....still, it's much better than shooting someone. So she's ahead on that front.

It's precisely because she's a cop that made her think she could get away with it.

That is just low.

Yeah, but being a cop she should be smarter about her chances!

Thats rather bigoted of you. Do you have some evidence to support that? Perhaps it was because of her race? Or gender? Who else are you bigoted against??

Right-wingers playing the race card again.

If there's any "cop" angle to this story it's that this cop broke the law, her crime was investigated, she was arrested and charged, and her department put her on unpaid leave while the legal process proceeds forward.

Basically, everything happened that should happen every time a cop (allegedly) breaks the law.

I'm all for raging against the machine when it's justified, as is evidenced by my many posts in this community related to cops being held to a separate legal standard in this country.

But when they get it right they get it right.

I don't think that should be celebrated, because they should always be doing the right thing; but neither do I think we should go out of our way grasping at the most tenuous straws.

How so? I am merely asking an individual that made a very obviously bigoted statement based on the individuals JOB if he was also bigoted due to her race or gender. Silly you think that is playing the race card.

I didn't know people were born into a job. Tell me more about the toddler taskforces engaging in no-knock raids and infant investigators taking snapshots at a crime scene. Yes it's as ridiculous as it sounds but then dealing with people like Vancemack the absurd is the only way.

Dumb. Throw away a good paying job for 3K. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Wait...did you REALLY not know it was possible for you to be bigoted against 'groups' not associated with race? Does it surprise you to learn you ARE indeed a bigot?
