You are making things up. President Pinocchio was speaking in December, 2014 to mark the end of the U.S. military effort in Iraq. Nothing whatever about his comments was meant to "sustain" or "proliferate" that effort.
And the western world is in a war with Muslim jihadists, whether anyone likes it or not. It may go on for decades. There are millions of jihadists, they are inspired by the most orthodox texts in Islam, and they will never quit, no matter how much fools try to appease them. The only way to defeat them is to kill so many of them--and to make it look easy--that other Muslims will come to see them and their views as a losing proposition. Bin Laden was right about one thing--among them, people shun the "weak horse" and follow the strong one.
And what was done, can't be undone.
Marked the end of military[/b] operations in Iraq. It did not end all operations in Iraq nor did it end all military operations in the ME. We had to go expand and proliferate our forever war in other nations. We'll leave Iraq to fester and then excuse another military incursion into it. We're not done, Forever War doesn't simply end.
Yes yes, we're at war with an idea and y'all have no idea how to fight it. That's quite clear. Meanwhile we expand our own government, we spend trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives, all for something that has no plan and as of this date has not once been handled well or intelligently. So what are we supposed to do? Grin and bear it? How about, y'all figure out a plan to succeed and until such time, we don't go making things worse?
Waste. Whatcha' mean, waste. Corporate America has thrived upon Iraq. GE, Haliburton, Raytheon, BAC, Z(Academi), Exxon/Mobil, Chevron, Boeing, GM, and hundreds of other Corporations have profitted handsomely. You miss the point that War is Good Business and any good marketing strategy will have these same Corporations beating the bushes to find, create, stimulate, and renew wars in the far corners of the World. Get a grip, my good man, your Country needs you to support these profits at every turn or the K Street coffers may cause Billionaire Congressmen to become Millionaires, don't ya' know? Even a paltry war eats a billion dollars and uses millions of barrels of petro product. Proifits! "War is good business and business is good." Get behind your weapons dealer, raise the flag, salute, kiss a few of your kiddies goodbye. Those profits are important, eh?
We were lied to in order to get into this war, why would it be a surprise that we'd be lied to in order to sustain and proliferate it? Forever War isn't typically built upon honest truth.
I can tell you are really shocked and outraged about fundraising groups. OK. I hope you are sitting down...because what I am about to tell you may floor you. You ready? Those fund raising groups? They are kind of a profit gig. See...a lot of that money raised goes to pay for the foundations...not just to the 'Wounded Warriors".Yep. And I sit here watching TV and see one commercial after another about these charities and funds like Wounded Warriors to benefits wounded Vets. Then I got to watch these phony baloney PoS politicians with their little American flag pins on their lapels, and them talking about being patriotic and how we have to support the troops! Yet these troops need help from PRIVATE organizations to get healthier?!?
There's trillions for Humvees and planes but the vets need help from outside charities? WTF?

We will build more for them, oh wait, the Humvee is made in China now, so I guess we can buy them from China and give them to Iraq.....
i'm well aware that war generates a lot of money for some people. arming assholes who are slightly preferable to some other asshole and then sending our soldiers to fight against those same weapons five years later is still a waste.
it's also somewhat stunning that even after this same thing has happened multiple times, no one thought to maybe put a damned kill switch on the weapons before handing them over? i mean, really. this has to be possible. why does IS have American humvees that work? why does ANYONE have one of our crashed drones? i mean, self destruct if there's a problem, maybe?
FFS.
no more endless war in the Middle East or anywhere else. bring all of our troops home now, and send them to college instead.
Oh...come now...your 'point' is rather transparent. Hw did you feel about that BS war Clinton got us into? And BTW...Cheney didnt get us into the war...Bush did. Do you see him 'forgetting' about those guys?I know that. I also know how inept and incompetent the VA is. I know 1st hand. I know we spend trillions overseas because of BS wars started by BS politicians like 5 deferment Cheney and others, and then when these guys come home they are for the most part, forgotten by those very same politicians, and the VA.
That was my point.
Newer USA weapons do have computerized shutoffs and it has caused some trepidation in the arms Industries. This shutoff has turned off many potential buyers that do not want their weapon functionality to be controlled by the Pentagon. Other Nations in the arms business have been quick to point out that their products don't have any backdoor switches.

You DO understand that the investment in foreign assistance in no way cuts into the investment in assistance to VA support...right? Or that the VA may have problem s that have NOTHING to do with available dollar amounts? That Warrior Transition Units, SFACS, and other soldier support groups are completely funded via congress through a completely separate budget? And that volunteer support agencies exist...always have existed...and and are merely a way for private citizens to contribute above and beyond to what is already provided? That you are really just off on a partisan rant that is completely disconnected from facts and reality?
And BTW...Cheney didnt get us into the war...Bush did. Do you see him 'forgetting' about those guys?
As in ALL from the taxpayers (be it this generation or those 40 years from now)? Sure. But they arent competing dollars. Funds or the VA arent allocated based on what is allocated to foreign equipment sales or even military support. Even within budgets (for instance, the military budget) there is mandated/fenced funding and discretionary funding. Even within the VA there is mandatory and discretionary funding (and the VA received an 8% increase in funding this year).completely separate budget? doesn't it all come from the same source?
Its not all one source. If you believe that you know nothing about it. And no one is protecting Cheney...merely assigning appropriate responsibility. FUnny how you refuse to do that. Well...NOT funny. There's a distinction? The lengths you guys will go to protect Cheney, and then you point your fingers are others and accuse them of being partisan?
Anyway about the other stuff, nice story. It's all 1 source. You rather see the money spent on Humvees, I rather we make less Humvees and give the Vets more help.
Years ago it was the PLO. Then the Muslim Brotherhood. Then the Taliban. Then AQ. Now ISIS. I may have the order wrong, and I might have left out a few, but the point it if/when we kill off ISIS another group will pop up and take their place.
Time to get out, all the way out. Let the Arabs and because the Europeans depend on ME oil so much they can get their hands dirty too.
But as was pointed out. Us being at war every single year is great for business.

About that unnecessary war in Bosnia....
They want to die for allah, and I want to oblige them.
