What do we gain from empowering the Cuban dictatorship?
OK so how many people here on this board are going to go to Cuba and make a donation to the Castros?
I am, if you want to frame it that way.
What do we gain from empowering the Cuban dictatorship?
Good. You know any money you spend there will end up with the Castros
And? When I was in Moscow a couple years back, I suppose my spending ended up in Putins wallet.
Did you not understand the comment?
Cuban cigars, a very nice vacation spot an hours flight away. A museum of awesome vintage Chevys running around, the Castro's both have a foot on a banana peel, they're short on time, no worries.
Lung cancer and vacations.....ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Full moon coming. THAT would explain it. :2razz:Lessee, we almost had missiles 90 miles off our coast. Now we can have ISIS 90 miles off our coast. Brilliant.
You ask me to prove my stuff.
Now you prove your claims.
That's not going to happen, and he KNOWS it! This is about Obama. Think they'd have praised Bush for opening up Cuba, had he been doing anything so constructive?
I cannot prove the future. But I can remember history.
I accept your concession.
50-60 years and 10 or so US presidents have come and gone yet Castro and communism are still there. Our past embargoes and policies towards Cuba has worked so well. So let's not try anything new, let's keep going with same failed tactics and policy.
Obama's getting rid of the old bad policies and creating new bad policies. Castro/Communism continues, just with less penalties against it.
Forgetting history gets you what?
Because i say so. My opinions are mine. Not someone else's.Why are they 'new bad policies'? Because YOU say so? Or it's Obama and everything he does is 'bad' because the talking AM conservative hosts tell you so?
Something new? Like appeasement? That never works. The old policies are KNOWN to be failures. Let's try something new.

If you want to try something new, try this:
-Raul steps down as leader
-He announces free and fair elections for President AND the Legislature
-Allow international monitors unlimited access to monitor the elections and allow a neutral party to count the votes
-When & if international election monitors are satisfied that the elections were fair and with no signs of intimidation or bias, then sanctions and other restrictions that have been in place for decades will be eased or completely dropped and diplomatic contact can resume
Easy as pie, both sides win.
But no...Obama won't do any of that. Mostly because he's a failure at negotiating.

....about the same place as not understanding history...
Where to you go from the Cuban missile crisis to Cuba being a safe haven for Isis? That almost belongs in conspiracy theory.
Forgetting history gets you what?
What makes you think Cuba is just going to let ISIS waltz in?
What do we gain from empowering the Cuban dictatorship?
Prosperity and exchange of ideas are naturally corrosive to dictatorship.
