Cuba officially off U.S. terror blacklist

I meant to ask this earlier... but what terrorism was Cuba involved in, again?

Seriously. What did Cuba ever have to do with terrorism?

This is why we're still deadly enemies with England, right? Or maybe it's just that you can't stand for us to forget your history and make our own.

Duh, communism. Don't you know that fundamentalist Islam and communism, despite being pretty much polar opposites, are natural allies? Everyone who isn't a heartland American is allied together to destroy the One True Way of Life.

Prosperity and exchange of ideas are naturally corrosive to dictatorship.
England proved itself a valued ally after a time. And its not a stretch to thing communism and radical islam wouldnt put aside differences to behead the great satan.

You didnt answer the question.

I explained how your premise is wrong.

Clearly you know very little about communists or about radical Islamists. I'm gonna go with the second option. Cuba was the enemy when you formed your opinions, and you don't care to change those opinions based on new information.

At what point did you think people would hijack airliners and crash them in to the world trade center and pentagon?
Funny how you should mention the hijacking of airliners.

Murder in Paradise: the Bombing of Cubana Flight 455

In 1985 Luis Posada Carriles was indicted and prosecuted as the mastermind of the murder of the 73 persons aboard that plane. But before the Venezuelan court could pronounce a verdict, he escaped from prison. Within a few weeks, he landed a job with the CIA in an operation that later became known as the Iran-Contra scandal. The United States has never bothered to explain how it was possible for an international fugitive charged with 73 counts of first-degree murder to so quickly land a $120,000-a-year job with the CIA, arming Nicaraguan Contras.

About the time Bush was having his speech about harbouring terrorists the US was harbouring this man.

But what about those news that ISIS are already in Mexico or Texas? Besides more refugees from the Mideast and Africa supposed to arrived to the US in coming years and of course there will be some ISIS or Al-Qaeda jihadists among them. So i think as for this issue Cuba is not of main concern really.

New information? Like what? Only new information is what Obama wants to do. Cuba has shown no let up in either their willingness for economic development or advancing human rights.
Will US citizens that are prisoners be allowed to leave? Will they turn over the cop killer hiding there? Are you even aware of any of that?

:doh
"Economic development"? What does that mean?
"Human rights"? What does that mean? And since when has human rights been a precondition with the US for diplomatic relations?

Will US citizens that are prisoners be allowed to leave? Will they turn over the cop killer hiding there? Are you even aware of any of that?
I'm not aware of Cuba holding any US citizens currently..... Are you? And if so what are their names?

Will the US release Luis Posada Carriles?

And he was released...
Oh, so only being held for 5 years mean nothing to you. The US needs to release no one. There was a time, before the weakness known as Obama, we dictated the terms.

I never stated that.

Why not? Why is it alright for us to harbor a terrorist who murdered 73 civilians, but not alright for Cuba to grant political asylum for Assata Shakur? Can you say "hypocrisy"? Especially when you use this as justification for not establishing diplomatic relations with a country.

I see NO reason for establishing relations with that country.

Cuba has allowed capitalistic ventures in their country. Were you aware of that. What hurts the economic development of Cuba the most are the US imposed sanctions and the Helms-Burton Act. Before you even demand Cuba release any prisoneers your country needs to release the Cuban 5 and stop harbouring wanted terrorists. Real terrorists like Luis Posada Carriles. As for the Cop Killer which is Assata Shakur she has always maintained her innocence and we know the surviving cop changed his story. We also know that the FBI under Edgar Hoover stated in a document directive, calling for "imaginative and hard hitting intelligence measures aimed at crippling the Black Panther Party."

Here are some human rights violations you people that criticize Cuba need to look at.

Another Obama failure.

The word 'failure' would imply he didn't achieve his goals. No, his goal has been to normalize relations with Cuba so this is definitely a success for Obama.

And I am far from an Obama supporter.

Lessee, we almost had missiles 90 miles off our coast. Now we can have ISIS 90 miles off our coast. Brilliant.

We also lost over 58,000 soldiers in Vietnam and yet we trade freely with them.

And Obama officially appeases yet another dictatorship!

At least he didn't hold hands and kiss a dictator like our previous president. ;)

The missiles were put there in response to the US having missiles in Turkey. Is Cuba having any kind of relations with Isis? No. Your fearmongering scare tactics only work on the stupid and the gullible.

Keep thinking that.

His loyalty needs to be with the US. Not with Cuba and other nations that wish to harm us. Now or in the past.

Keep thinking that.
Oh, do you have evidence to show otherwise. Please by all means, provide it. Until then spread your propagated lies elsewhere.,

You're country attacked Cuba, Bay Of Pigs ring a bell. You have also terrorized Cuba for 50 years. Are you a terrorist supporter?

Lies? Castro's regime has been one of the most brutal dictatorial in history.

Did you not read my links. Please, please tell me they are nothing but leftist lies. I have a truckload of US declassified documents to support my assertions.
The memorandum states that "violent action" is the only means of breaking Castro's grip on power, listing as the U.S. objective "the overthrow of Castro within one year." King also recommends that "thorough consideration be given to the elimination of Fidel Castro," marking the first time that the idea of assassination is committed to paper. (Cuban Problems, 12/11 /59)
JAN 12, 1960: Throughout the month of January, sabotage and small bombing missions in Cuba increase in frequency. A plane drops incendiary bombs in the areas of Bainoa, Caraballo, and San Antonio de Rio Blanco. Another plane coming from the north, with U.S. markings, drops inflammable material on cane fields next to the Hershey factory. (Informe Especial. 1960)

JAN 18, 1960: A plane drops live phosphorous over the cane plantations of Quemados de Guines and Rancho Veloz, in Las Villas. Seven people are detained in Sagua la Grande for trying to derail the Sagua?Havana train. (Informe Especial: 1960)

JAN 21, 1960: A plane drops four one-hundred pound bombs on the urban district of Cojimar y Regla in Havana. (Informe Especial: 1960)
During the meeting, Eisenhower states that he knows of "no better plan" for dealing with this situation but is concerned about leakage and breach of security. He argues that everyone must be prepared to deny its existence and only two or three people should have contact with the groups involved, agitating Cubans to do most of what must be done. The President tells Mr. Dulles that he thinks he should go ahead with the plan and the operations but that "our hand should not show in anything that is done." (Memorandum of Conference with the President, 3/18/60; CIA, A Program of Covert Action Against the Castro Regime, 3/16/60)

LATE MARCH 1960: David Atlee Phillips, a CIA contract employee who until recently had maintained a public-relations company in Havana, is selected by the CIA as chief of propaganda for the Cuba project. At operation headquarters in Washington, Phillips is told that the Cuba project will go by the Guatemala scenario. (Phillips had performed the same function in PBSUCCESS, the 1954 operation against Guatemalan President Jacobo Arbenz. During the coup by a CIA, directed exile force, Phillips had operated a clandestine station supporting them.) CIA operative E. Howard Hunt, also a veteran of the Guatemala operation, is assigned the position of chief of political action for the project. His primary responsibility is to form a government-in-exile to replace Castro's government following the invasion. (Wyden, pp.20-22; Hunt, p.23)

Please read it all.
