Dem hopeful (Bernie) Sanders once penned essay on women’s rape fantasy

Well if this disqualifies Bernie I'm not going to run for any political office, someone would only need to find stuff I've posted on DP and a few other forums for all the juicy out of context soundbites they need

What was that mantra from a party that has a rapist at its helm??? As party "Royalty"... could it have been something like...
War against women?

Ahhh hell... I guess fantasizing about rape and writing about it is OK... if you're a Demokrat. Hell, they look the other way when they have a rapist as party Royalty. Put an R by elected representative's name and I think the screaming from the Socialists of Amerika Partei (SAPs) and their propagandists would be so loud and endless, you'd hear it all the way to election day.

If he is able to beat the big money, pass the crown, powers that be, backed Hillary machine and win the nomination I'll have no problem voting for Bernie. Just for the record, I think Sanders has a shot.
After reading the new Politico article (linked), I've got to admit he has my interest!

I prefer urban living & social liberalism, and he seems to understand & affect both well.

I suppose it could also include issues such as menstruation or jock itch and having nothing to do with sex and sexuality.

Um... What?

What the hell is your point here, dude? Do you have anything meaningful to say or do you just resent the idea that someone is reading an article correctly?

Shades of grey?

Some guy rights a story about a rape fantasy in a sexual way and society judges rape as about power, not sex. You don't see any contrast in that? Some guy changing the general meaning of rape being about power and also running for the most powerful office in the US is thought provoking.

You and I must be reading different articles, because the one in the OP written by Sanders in 1972 is not a fantasy, nor is it particularly sexual. It's a critical creative piece.

So I can't evaluate your statement, given that you are talking about something that doesn't exist, and therefore something I cannot read.

"A critical creative piece". Is that a fancy term for junk? That I can evaluate and choosing not to read what it says and totally discounting it seems counter intuitive. Now by all accounts, Bernie hasn't acted in any way like his writings, but I'm sure the Clintons are now researching all the unsolved rapes in Vermont.

Whether it's any good or not has nothing to do with what it is. Most of it doesn't even have anything to do with sex. And I've certainly never seen a supposed erotica describe the act as "intercourse." It quite simply isn't a sexual piece. There is no "acting like his writings." He is commenting on social dynamics prevalent at the time, and to some extent still today.

It seems to me you are blinded by a need to hate someone you think is "on the other team."

Unless you would like to talk about the actual piece that Bernie Sanders actually wrote, rather than the imaginary one you've made up in your head, there's really nothing else to say.

It seems you are quick to form opinions about others, but then I suppose you suffer from an active imagination that you accuse me of. I've made no comments about Bernie's policies, only about his character in running for the Democratic nomination with out any past, present or future desire to be a Democrat. Bernie doesn't have a team, so in that regard only, I guess I am on the other team.

I'm not the one who apparently can't read a piece of only a couple hundred words.

And I am aware Sanders isn't a Democrat, but as your own assumption displays, that's how people tend to think of him in their endless need to oversimplify the world.

Well, when you are done reading the piece you can ponder the state of mind of someone who wrote this short piece. It appears he was married at the time although I can't even find her name or what has become of her. It says more about the relationship since it was written when he was 31, so not a college student.

This one piece is nothing to indict him over, but it does add a piece of the puzzle of a complex person and his underlying character. If that is too much of an oversimplification of the world for you, I'll leave you to your reading.

I mean don't bother to actually read the "essay." I'm sure that one line works fine.

Seriously. It seems people only care about context when it is one of their own.

Fact is, there's not much to like about thieving Socialists anyway. ;)

You prefer thieving conservatives?

Its always interesting to see how liberals treat their perverts.

please describe for us the exact perversion you have observed

Its funny that you actually have to ask, because the media sure likes to ignore it. The Washington Times is sending 10 reporters on Hastert (who isnt even a politician anymore)...I wonder how many they sent to report on Juanita Broaddrick accusing Bill Clinton of RAPING HER???

i missed the portion of your post where you described the actual perversion you referenced

Well, it's a social piece questioning dysfunctional dynamics in the typical relationship at the wake of women flooding the work force and struggling to re-write their identities in what was still a deeply sexist society that casts women as those who suffer. As someone who takes an interest in social issues, I know a number of people who could have written this, if they had grown up in the context of the time. Hell, I could have written it myself.

It's not necessarily the words I would have chosen, given that I grew up with a different set of gender assumptions (although I would have kept the rape aspect -- it's important). But plenty of older feminists I know were writing things like this, in that era. My own father, who was a very socially aware man even then, could have written it. It seems very enlightened of him, honestly.

What does his being married have to do with anything? Again, did you read it? You seem to be critisizing me for actually having read it. I'm sorry if you prefer to blindly bather on about something you didn't even look at, but I prefer to actually inform myself.

The part where I talked about BILL CLINTON RAPING PEOPLE.

I like him. Bernie Sanders is not rich, he doesn't run around looking for a camera to stand it front of, I think his wife cuts he hair, he speaks plainly. In the brief time Sanders has been running for nomination he has not dodged issues, in his agenda for America he has plainly stated what he wants to do if elected. He's going to make the election interesting.

Half the GOP or more candidates and even Hillary are mislabeled. They are predatory capitalist neocons, that includes Hillary. But they all hide behind little comfortable party labels. I think it is refreshing that Bernie has been honest about his label. In fact I'm fairly certain Americans favor more social programs than they favor predatory capitalism.

You like him because he's not successful?

Why is it ALWAYS democrats with these sex scandals??

yes, that fellow we heard about this week, former house member and party leader
what party did he lead?
