But not one of those stories mentions the sale of US weapons technology to China. They simply deal with Isareli weapons sales (of their own domestically built and designed weapons) to China, none of which actually went through.

Do you honestly believe we can earn God's favor by giving money to Israel?
I think the question should read as STATE of Israel. some people consider the LAND of Israel to be one thing and the STATE of Israel another. There are peeps who support Israel but not the state.

Well then I sure as hell hope you haven't ever eaten any shrimp, lobster or mussels before.

Leviticus 11:9-12 says:
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

Deuteronomy 14:9-10 says:
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

That being said... it's high time for a much fatter line drawn between church and state. It's hard to govern with people acting so heavenly minded they are no earthly good.

The state would be much more easy to support if they didn't keep electing their right wing nutjob Likud Party into power.

Bass Player's are God's chosen people! Send money!

Apologising for the Israelis!!!!

For Lockwood and many other survivors, the anger is mixed with incredulity: that Israel would attack an important ally, then attribute the attack to a case of mistaken identity by Israeli pilots who had confused the U.S. Navy's most distinctive ship with an Egyptian horse-cavalry transport that was half its size and had a dissimilar profile. And they're also incredulous that, for years, their own government would reject their calls for a thorough investigation.

In 1967, at the height of the Arab / Israeli Six Day War, the Israeli Air Force attacked the USS Liberty, a US Navy spy ship that was monitoring the conflict from the safety of international waters in the Mediterranean. Israeli jet fighters twice identified the ship as American before hitting the vessel with rockets, cannon-fire and napalm, before three Israeli torpedo boats moved in to launch a second more devastating attack.

New revelations in attack on American spy ship - Chicago Tribune
Israel knowingly attacked US military ship in 1967...

The US bombed the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia. So what. Accidents happen.

That sir is more important than all the riches in the universe.

I appreciate your personal belief in that, but it is subjective and it has no place in the public world of politics and diplomacy. Please keep it out of the debate.

The US bombed the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia. So what. Accidents happen.

Besides the fact we got them back on that, Was there any reason to believe that their bombing was intentional, hmm? And your dismissive attitude of that attack would be offensive to the 170 wounded and 35 killed aboard that ship. JFC the contortions you guys get yourselves into protecting Israel.

I call bull****. Drummers are God's chosen. Bassists are an abomination.

Drummers try to annex my stage space! They just take more and more. Give them an inch and they'll want a mile. They are NOT God's chosen people! So it is written! (I just wrote it.) So shall it be done! Get back on your side of the stage or I'm not going to pay my stage rent to you any more!

ok... good point. I was a drummer in high school but I was the lead singer in my 20's in a rock band and yes... drummers were stage hogs. Let's unite at our anger towards lead guitarists whose egos always outstrip their abilities. No doubt encouraged by... SATAN!?!?

So, lead singers are God's chosen and bassists are their annoying little wing men.

The tragedy was the subject of thirteen investigations. Every one of them concluded that the attack was an accident.

please explain what you mean by''a much fatter line drawn between church and state''

I'm sure most people understand why the US would seek an "official" conclusion that exonerated Israel, and you of course are welcome to that opinion, myself, NEVER!!!

Except for McNamara, most senior administration officials from Secretary of State Dean Rusk on down privately agreed with Johnson's intelligence adviser, Clark Clifford, who was quoted in minutes of a National Security Council staff meeting as saying it was "inconceivable" that the attack had been a case of mistaken identity.

There are cases that a third party intelligence agents are killed during military actions, by mistake or not. Dayan certainly didn't want LBJ to demand an immediate ceasefire before his tanks reach the Suez canal. During WW2 many people died through the US air attacks on friendly ground...

The attack "couldn't be anything else but deliberate," the NSA's director, Lt. Gen. Marshall Carter, later told Congress.

"I don't think you'll find many people at NSA who believe it was accidental," Benson Buffham, a former deputy NSA director, said in an interview.

The attack "couldn't be anything else but deliberate," the NSA's director, Lt. Gen. Marshall Carter, later told Congress.

When the tragedy was first investigated, Carter made no such claims. Moreover, upon receiving the findings, he raised no objections. Instead, he "instructed the chief of his telecommunications organization, Colonel Leslie J. Bolstridge, USAF, to review the report in minute detail with a view to 'correcting our procedures wherever we can profit from this debacle of military communications." (https://www.nsa.gov/public_info/_files/uss_liberty/attack_sigint.pdf, p.59) That lack of objection hardly provides a demonstration that Carter felt that the accidental attack could only have been "deliberate."

Yes don, you continue going back to documents of the time while the rest of us are leaning on resent declassified documents. Btw, to a man, not one of the 34 survivors believe that it was an accident. But the US has never stopped apologising for the State of Israel, nor failed to protect her from accountability at the UN. Sorry, were not buying it. But the attack on our naval vessel 50 years ago is the least of reasons that we should be telling Israel to take a hike on their request.

The topic of the thread is "Israel asking U.S. for 50% increase in next defense assistance package". The topic is not the Israeli/Palestinian conflict or the SS Liberty. All discussions specific to the
Israel and Palestine conflict are to be housed in the Middle East forum.

* This is not the place to discuss the Israel/Palestine situation. Israel and Palestine are in the Middle East and there is a specific forum for this discussion. Seems to me you don't know the difference between laws of morality and those dealing with health and sanitation.
