Carson, 63, who announced his candidacy earlier this month, won 25.4 percent of the 958 votes cast by the reportedly more than 2,000 people attending the three-day event at the Cox Convention Center.

Ben Carson Wins SRLC Straw Poll

This post is gonna be my first one here, and when it came to his announcement for a running in 2016 it came up to me (still can't get rid of this) that he would be an ideal candidate for the head of Public Health Service or any other to repair our dying Healthcare.
Obviously he has no enough experience in politics and foreign policies (lots of interviews to prove that) but it turns out many people are ready for this.
We're on the edge of making important decisions in 2016, I'm not surprised Cruz is an outsider here and my point is -

Do you really believe Carson can be a GOP candidate and be a match for Hillary?

No. Carson is an impressive guy, but I think he lacks many of the main qualifications for being president. It is, after all, a political office and he has zero political experience, so that kind of counts him out in my book. Secretary of HHS? Sure. President. No.

No, I really do not. In fact I would go so far to say that if Republicans nominate Carson it would turn into a sure win for Hillary.

Carson is a flash in the pan personality whose main appeal to the GOP base (medical accomplishments aside) is the fact that he, as a black man, publicly rebuked Obama. His chances at garnering the nomination or winning the general election are practically non-existent. Historically, winning straw polls and mock elections at conventions such as these has not directly translated to electoral success.

That's what I'm talking about. As a surgeon he is a genius but his political horizons are unclear. The fact he is black doesn't mean a thing here, it's hard to say who hate Obama's politics more - blacks or whites:2razz:
Actually all potential candidates don't miss the opportunity to criticize Obama but no real alternative plans were offered so far. Carson is not the exemption here, and his little success shows people are ready to choose the lesser of evils.

I would bet on GOPs in 2016 and I will never believe reported Hillary's 50%.

That is a pretty fair assessment that many don't want to admit.

Carson's achievement of being a brain surgeon is great as well as some rocket scientists achievements are but I don't know how that translate to being a great president. Being in the medical world I have worked with many surgeons and the guy you see talking to you as a patient may not be the same guy we see working with. There are some surgeons who are decent human beings and then there is a number who are basic dick heads.

Every four years we all seem to hope for that bright new knight on a white stallion to come into the presidental race to save us all. Unfortunately that is just a fairy tale. There is no knight in shiny armour.

At the 2016 voting stations they need to have puke buckets placed alongside the voting machines.

I find it difficult to take someone in the medical field seriously who rejects evolution.

I see Mr. Carson as another Rodger Ailes created 'political media personality' - similar to, but more highly developed than, Herman 'The Pizzaman' Cain.

My two main thoughts:

+++

"If he's a Fox hero, that's all I need to know!"

&

"Why besmirch a successful & vaunted neurosurgery career with this crap?"

+++

He may be brilliant in medicine, but doesn't seem too smart as relating to society at-large (unless he's pandering, which is distinctly possible given his Fox affiliation).

I see he has no chance to become POTUS. He would repair health service of course but he has no chance because he's against same-sex marriages and marijuana legalization. Besides, he's black Republican, I doubt Republicans will trust him more than Cruz f.e.

That's why I'd never vote for him. We have too many religious asshats in politics already.

A hard nut or a temporary leader? I am not sure what you are asking here, but on what basis would you call him a leader? He most definitely is a Nut, however. I am not sure how hard he is. I don't want to know. Though he clearly is chasing the fantasy that he could be President.
