Warren Buffett: $15 minimum wage will hurt the working class

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

what better way to devalue higher education than by making it "free"?

pretty much it right there. if everyone has it then it loses value.
already companies are seeking master degrees over 4 years because there are so many 4 year degree's flooding the market.
you can still get good job with a 4 year but you need something for you to stand out.

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

why does it have to be free. they can work just like everyone else does.
How is something that so fundamental to society, be unaffordable to so many? Why should education be freely provided only to some certain point? Why should education be something that only some can obtain but others cannot?
what better way to devalue higher education than by making it "free"?
Id love to see how universal higher education "devalues" it.....

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

We already have the government in control of 12 years of failed public education. Leave colleges alone.

Liberals should be apologizing for what they have done to schools in this country. :(

It "failed"? I mean I want to a public school... How'd it "fail" me?

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

How about raising the minimum wage and also investing in education?

"Investing" in education is the leading cause of college tuition inflation.

it isn't unaffordable there are plenty of scholarships, grants and loans that lower income people can get.
there are also plenty of cheap good quality colleges that one can attend. it takes some work.

Id love to see how universal higher education "devalues" it.....

it works the same way as anything that is produced in mass quantities. I have seen it happen with my own eyes.
before 2000 you could get away with a 2 year degree in pretty much any technical field. you were golden if you had it. you could pretty much
write your own ticket.

after 2000 companies weren't taking 2 year degree's they wanted 4 year technical degree's. unless you had a ton of experience already.
now companies are wanting master degree's in certain fields were a 4 year was just fine.

why? degree's of separation. the market is flooded with 4 year degree's it no longer carries the weight that it did. you can still get by with one but you
had better have something else on your resume to separate you from the other 10k people that have the same thing.

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

Oh, for God's sake. How about just teaching them to READ?

If they dont know how to read they should probably learn from someone, or someone should teach them

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

ITT right-wingers support greater "redistribution of wealth" because it goes against different liberal goal.

liberals often confuse the distribution of income with 'redistribution'

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

it does for millions of people.
Please show me the direct correlation of more people becoming educated leads to more minimum wage jobs....

it isn't unaffordable there are plenty of scholarships, grants and loans that lower income people can get.
Thanks for telling me whats there. Now how does that answer any of the questions I just asked?

there are also plenty of cheap good quality colleges that one can attend. it takes some work.
:doh $10,000 a year isnt "cheap" for the majority of Americans.

You "went".
Thanks, I know I just said this. Now how did me going to public school "fail" me?

"Investing" in education is the leading cause of college tuition inflation.
Yea.... I think a boat load of countries would beg to differ, and many of those countries are ahead of us either in technical skills, and world education rankings...

most of those who are "poor" dropped out of HS. so how is spending more money on education they won't take advantage of a good thing?

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

most of those who are "poor" dropped out of HS.
Thats not true. I believe the rate of HS dropouts who make up the nations poor is around 30-35%.... But still even if your claim is true, why shouldnt they be allowed to obtain or continue their education after dropping out for whatever reason?

so how is spending more money on education they won't take advantage of a good thing?
You think being offered free higher education is somehow going to make less people graduate highschool? Or what exactly is your argument?

you think people who didn't care enough to get through HS are going to pursue higher education?

is your solution to everything is to tax the rich more and hand out stuff to those who didn't care about what they were already given?

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

this had nothing to do what you were responding to no where was minimum wage mentioned in the post.
however millions of people go to school work for their degree and get better paying jobs.

Thanks for telling me whats there. Now how does that answer any of the questions I just asked?
I just did answer it.
there is already plenty of opportunity for them to get a college education.

:doh $10,000 a year isnt "cheap" for the majority of Americans.

with grants, scholarships, and loans it affordable. that is why those things exist.
and they might actually have to work and go to school as well.

the bigger question here is why can't you actually address what people are saying instead of making up random comments that have nothing to do with what they said at all?

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

What the matter if they dont want to? Whats your point? If some people dont use a public service then, what?

is your solution to everything is to tax the rich more and hand out stuff to those who didn't care about what they were already given?
This tax is directed at those who owe $100 in stocks, and at a rate of .005. This is not a tax "the rich" scenario. I know you like to single out the rich and powerful as some sort of victim in just about every taxation issue, and anything that taxes them even a tiny tiny tiny tiny bit like your all fearful "death tax" is the worst thing of all time, and just about anything that will benefit the middle class and the working class at the expense of some sort of tax that is mainly implemented on the rich as some sort of barbaric act, but get real TD.

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

Warren Buffet thought the majority of Americans were dumb enough to think his Secretary paid more in Taxes than he did.

He actually tried to sell this nonsense to the American people,.

why do you constantly demand others pay for what YOU want? this is another surcharge on those who already pay most of the taxes.

He's a lying pandering POS. and what is said is the number of helium headed sheeple who buy his crap

"You set up a condition where the majority of the free education users become the new minimum wage class."

however millions of people go to school work for their degree and get better paying jobs.
Cool. Your point?
I just did answer it.
there is already plenty of opportunity for them to get a college education.
Go back and reread my post. Did I deny that scholarships were not available or something? Will scholarships no longer be available under a system within a system where one has free university public education?

with grants, scholarships, and loans it affordable. that is why those things exist.
Thats nice. Did I deny or something that these exist? Whats your point??

and they might actually have to work and go to school as well.
Countries where college education is provided dont have studnet employees or something?

I didnt address something? Whats that?

Percentage. Paid a higher percentage.

Have you ever head of percentages?
That's the lie GOPs are still trying to pass off ?

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

I think I have answered this before in direct response to a very similar question you asked. Oh wait I did!!!
"Because I believe 50cents of $100 in stock which funds the providing of public education to everyone has a larger benefit than 50cents of the $100 in stock in private hands."

this is another surcharge on those who already pay most of the taxes.
Thats nice.

Re: Warren Buffett Don't raise the minimum wage

He's a lying pandering POS.

Because he supports DEMs?

and what is said is the number of helium headed sheeple who buy his crap

I'd like to see Buffet become Rand Pal's billionaire I the GOP primaries.
Since FOX/rightists are out to sink Paul .
