Russia Warns Google, Twitter, Facebook Of Possible Block

Just another example of Russia's desire to control. Also, ice is still cold.
 
Well, does google, Facebook and Twitter think that they can violate Russian Internet laws with impunity?
 
The idea of free speech is anathema to many central European countries to different degrees and especially for Russian government. It is considered a danger to the very fabric of society never having occurred outside of destabilizing periods of historical experience.

Not that they are unwelcome but they have to operate under Russian TOS.
 
Terms of service (and conditions apply)
Those conditions include having data servers on Russian soil (to facilitate physical control), content deletion/closure upon state request, and turning over any requested data on member/activity to state security.

Who cares? They aren't Russian companies. In their shoes I would ignore all laws save U.S. laws.
