6 Officers Indicted In Freddie Gray’s Death « CBS Baltimore

City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby said a grand jury has indicted all six officers in the the Freddie Gray’s death. Six officers were charged on May 1, following the death of Freddie Gray–Mosby calling the arrest illegal. She also announced that reckless endangerment was added to the charges against the officers and the charges of false imprisonment was removed. Mosby announced the charges, which range from second-degree misdemeanor assault to “depraved-heart” murder, in a lengthy news conference one day after receiving an investigative report from police. The May 1 announcement came after more than a week of protests that on two occasions gave way to rioting, prompting Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to implement a curfew and Republican Gov. Larry Hogan to declare a state of emergency for the city.

I have.

My understanding of the term is that it applies to causing the death of another, not necessarily out of specific intent to cause death, but out of extreme disregard for human life and for the likelihood that one's actions may result in death. It applies to an action that one takes, knowing and not caring that it has a very high likelihood of causing death—if such an action then actually results in a death, that death is a depraved-heart murder.

Yes, I agree with that definition. I'm also glad to see these officers so charged.

OK so now there doesn't need to be any more protests. The perpetrators have been caught and charged.

Good luck with that...

Excellent news, it looks like their careers as cops are over!!:lamo, when this is said and done a few years from now if they don't end up in jail, they will be broke in legal fees, and civil suits, they will be lucky to get a night security job making peanuts..:applaud

Pretty much. They're screwed for life no matter how much time they get (and they'll most likely get locked up for a damn long time :D)

Now to see how many shovey-cops and boot-lickers get offended at the "racist" prosecution.

More than anything, we can hope it sends a message where it needs to. ;)

I dunno if you are patrolling the comments on news feeds about this the average american is pissed off at the prosecution and thinks Gray was a scumbag that deserved it, and they feel sympathy for the cops. Americans have gone pretty mild blooded and retarded.

They dont realize that once we condone this sort systemic behavoir to the worst of society then those with the authority might find excuses and stories to use it on the best.

Really!! I'd like to see some polling on that.

This is a clear witch hunt.

I dunno. So far from what ive seen on news feed comments its huge majority of people furious over the indictment and a smallish sliver, not quite a chunk of people trying to explain how what the cops did was wrong. But most of those people are harping on the false arrest charge is bull**** / he had a past record that made him scum card.

The cops may well be guilty of... something. Something, but not murder 2. They charged the DRIVER with murder 2?

The cops are overcharged and I really hope that their isn't more bloodshed when they are not found guilty of things they should have never been charged with in the first place. Reckless endangerment or even manslaughter at least SEEM realistic but MURDER 2? Give me a ****ing break.

You people really have no idea what you're doing, do you ?

35 dead African Americans in Baltimore since Freddie Gray died
Over a 150 shootings but " Black lives matter, " right ?

Only when you can blame their deaths on a Police Officers and only when you can perpetuate some BS Political narrative that completely ignores the REAL issues that affect inner city areas like this.

See. Here come the racists that dont care about mishandling of criminals.

I don't like police officers violating department conduct codes or violating the constitution they have sworn to uphold, even if they've never read it. And apparently you heard all the testimony presented to the GJ and disagree with them.

I predict:
1. The Mosby is removed from the case.
2. They are not able to make most of the charges stick.
3. They start burning their neighborhood down again.
4. Crime rate will continue to sky rocket.

I am interested to see how this all turns out. I live far away from this kind of stuff so it doesn't matter to me personally.

The only boot lickers are the racists defending what the prosecutor has done.

See.

This does not mean that the cops are going to prison, just that they will now have to stand trial. I seriously doubt that they will go to prison or see any serious time.

Well we'll see if the State can collect enough evidence to demonstrate guilt.
