I wonder if/how Putin will respond to this.

Ukrainian forces says two drones shot down over war zone are Russian | World news | The Guardian

Russia is using advanced drones to monitor the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian forces who claim to have shot down two of the aircraft this month. The announcement come shortly after Ukraine’s capture of two men it says are Russian special forces troops, and will be used as further evidence of Russia’s involvement in a conflict it has always denied playing a part in. The first drone was shot down by Aerorozvidka, a special reconnaissance unit of the Ukrainian forces, not far from Luhansk, in eastern Ukraine, on 8 May. A battle ensued over the next two days as Ukrainian troops tried to retrieve the wreckage. “We knew we had hit something important by the way they were fighting to try to stop us from getting to it,” said Natan Chazin, the commander of the unit.

When they reached the wreckage, the soldiers found four compasses and a triple backup navigation system to ensure the drone was virtually immune to electronic jamming and would always return home unless shot down. The interior metallic plates were stamped with two sets of Israeli markings. Gustav Gressel, a former first lieutenant and radar officer in an anti-aircraft battery of the Austrian military, said after inspecting the wreckage that it resembled an Israeli Searcher drone. He said neither Ukrainian forces nor the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) used anything similar. “The thing has to come from Russia,” he said.

Maybe it came from Israel!

There is another thread about this in the international forum...

Russian troops in Ukraine is a pretty poorly kept secret and I doubt there will be much of a response from Putin if there is any at all.

What is much more interesting, at least to me, right now is that the EU appears to be pumping the breaks a little bit on welcoming Ukraine into the fold. Their economic outlook is dire at best, the political situation is precarious, and it is beginning to look like things in Kiev are beginning to unravel.

Doesn't matter who made the drones or its components. They're not supposed to be flying in Ukrainian airspace.

Hahahahaha, that's funny, doesn't the US violate sovereign airspace with our drones only ALL THE TIME?????

Both are illegal. Something you are unwilling to admit.

Ok, let's agree that they are BOTH illegal!!!! Now then, let's stop pointing fingers at each other.

Probably did. Israel is a leading manufacturer and distributor of drones.

And Russia has bought the ultra sophisticated near strategic level reconnasiance Israeli drones. They probably bought the smaller tactical ones as well.

Why would Israel be repaying their welfare benefits, their guaranteed protection from binding UNSCR's and our policing of their neighborhood with selling what Romney declared was the biggest threat to America, such handy technology?

Because they need the cash?

Israel is very dependent on defense exports and in the past, has been willing to creatively sell to a variety of unusual customers. For example, Israel discreetly partnered with apartheid South Africa in weapons technology transfers. Then again, as Israel also had (has) an apartheid policy, perhaps that is not unusual.

As for the Russian sales (I think they were Heron drones), the Israelis can claim:
a- they are unarmed drones
b- we did not sell them too many
c- The Russian assured us that they were going to use them for PC green purposes like environmental monitoring.... .
