Hunter pays $350,000 to shoot black rhino: 'I believe in survival of species'

I have been here much longer than yourself
Have a cookie.
so my expectations are much higher.
I posted three articles to the one that didn't have the complete story. So your expectations are for articles that confirm your opinion. Not articles that present the truth. As you made clear by your teenager response to such articles.
When an OP makes a claim, then it's up to the OP to back it up.
I made a claim and backed it up to wit you responded with emoticons but no argument.
It's not up to me to google as *I* am NOT the one making the claim. On a message board, you have to back up your ****.
Well I backed up my claim thoroughly. And should you wish to return to the topic of the rhinoceros's condition and why it was shot we can. If you want to quibble over silly garbage to avoid admitting you were wrong than enjoy your ivory tower in solitude.

whatever floats your boat. I don't hunt stuff for trophies either-when I shot deer it was mainly does since they were better eating. I have a few African heads on the wall-yeah we ate them too

I don't know anyone who gets a boner. It appears this is just another case of cultural differences-one side sees hunting as awful and wants to impose human values to animals (innocent) and others see such positions as being emotional and silly

I don't see hunting as awful. I have friend who are responsible hunters, so not sure why you've jumped to that conclusion?

Puffing out my chest while holding a big boner because I have the head of a bad-assed animal on my wall is not something I will ever get. If that makes me "emotional," so be it. But silly? How can caring about the life of a glorious creature by construed as silly?

I think you've moved the goalposts 1000 times here.

It will of course seem stupid if you do not share my perception on this matter.
I find it stupid because you fail to explain your perception. I don't think that because people have differing views that they are stupid. You just poorly explained yours. I'll listen I might even respect your beliefs I actual have a few friends that are vegans and I respect their views but they also respect mine. So I'm open minded.
I am not a human supremacist.
Well, this is just kind of dumb and I don't really think you believe in equal opportunity for cockroaches.

I do not consider our species to be most special or unique organisms on this planet, and, in fact, we are actually inferior in many respects.
I don't either. I consider our species having superior intelligence. Our species is the only one that has been on the moon, mastered supersonic flight has industrial developments and so forth. No earthly species comes close.
This is especially true when we consider the senses, adaptability, and sheer power of many animals. That we think of ourselves as the pinnacle of everything is the result of social conditioning rather than facing reality.
Our evolutionary advancement is complex problem solving. We don't need to rely on instinct. I'd say it's an advancement to use a blood hound to sniff out things we can't smell, or using birds to see things we cannot. Even developing instruments that surpass by a wide margin anything any other animal is capable of. Pretty much tells me our adaptation is the supreme one.

They are all equal in having the capacity to suffer
Meh certain animals perhaps.
and that they strive for happiness, and this is hardly disputable.
Is happiness a concept that all animals can even grasp? I'll await your proof for such a claim.

How you measure equality is through the intelligence of others obviously.
Equality is an artificial construct. But clearly animals aren't capable of grasping it. Owls eat mice. [QOUTE]I would ask where the line is for that? How much "intelligence" must an organism have in order for you consider them equal?[/QUOTE]Sapience is where I'd draw the line.

Do all humans possess the same amou nt of intelligence?
Not necessarily, a human that is brain dead does not abd it's okay to "pull the plug" on them.
Is it possible that there are some animals that exceed the intelligence of human beings
No, I've never seen an animal make rhythmic music, write language or make a clock.

such as infants or the mentally disabled?
No infants are more intelligent than animals because they have the capacity to learn to use tools even instrumentation. Other animals do not. Mentally disabled humans don't represent humanity.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know any hunters who act that way. Maybe you do so YMMV. I don't. so its a nonstarter with me.

I've known some hunters myself. Never happened upon somebody like that myself. I'm an angler, I mostly like trout and they don't really get very big. Though I have caught a stingray. I wasn't too happy about it.
