If they'd toss out all the illegal aliens collecting benefits there'd be money for poor CITIZENS.

Facing $1 Billion Deficit, Arizona Sharply Limits Welfare - US News

may 18 2015
PHOENIX (AP) — Facing a $1 billion budget deficit, Arizona's Republican-led Legislature has reduced the lifetime limit for welfare recipients to the shortest window in the nation.

Low-income families on welfare will now have their benefits cut off after just 12 months.

As a result, the Arizona Department of Economic Security will drop at least 1,600 families — including more than 2,700 children — from the state's federally funded welfare program on July 1, 2016.

The cuts of at least $4 million reflect a prevailing mood among the lawmakers in control in Arizona that welfare, Medicaid and other public assistance programs are crutches that keep the poor from getting back on their feet and achieving their potential

Most states impose a five-year limit on welfare benefits. Thirteen states limit it to two years or less, and Texas has a tiered time limit that can be as little as 12 months but allows children to continue to receive funding even after the parents have been cut, welfare policy analyst Liz Schott said.

No one should get handouts.

Legal or not.

Handouts are moronic.

How far do you take that? Should all forms of welfare be stopped? Should we end social security?

Social security is ending itself. My generation will most likely not get **** out of it.

Even if we were going to get it though... Yes, social security could and should go. The idea is that people should be responsible and save. If they don't save, they reap what they sow and become beggars.

Ending social security would create a retirement crisis.

The baby boomers shouldn't have been such morons in their twenties.

Hell, my own grandma retired in her sixties but expects my generation and my parents generation to work until their seventies and beyond.

Welfare of any kind gives people the incentive to be lazy, no matter how slight.

Welfare is bad. I will not change my mind on that. The less welfare the better. It's not like there were huge crises every day before FDR's presidency.

Will create a retirement crises. The correct term is will. Every person retiring today is currently scheduled to outlive their benefits, but Baby Boomers haven't saved crap.

My Mother was collecting SNAP from the time I was 5 to 8. Without it, I wouldn't have eaten. Your opinion is black and white, extreme and unrealistic.

Here's the real story on your handouts.

Fossil fuels subsidised by $10m a minute, says IMF | Environment | The Guardian

"Fossil fuel companies are benefitting from global subsidies of $5.3tn (£3.4tn) a year, equivalent to $10m a minute every day, according to a startling new estimate by the International Monetary Fund.

The IMF calls the revelation “shocking” and says the figure is an “extremely robust” estimate of the true cost of fossil fuels. The $5.3tn subsidy estimated for 2015 is greater than the total health spending of all the world’s governments."

Sure. Welfare extends to corporate welfare. The only question now is what is the line between welfare and legitimate subsidizing for a job to be done.

SIDENOTE you duplicated your post.

your opinion is extreme.

Steal from everyone to pay for you. How empathetic.

How is a five year old that can't feed himself "stealing" from everyone?

Your mother is stealing.

If families in China can scrape by then so can your mother. If my dad who came here at 13 can scrape by then so can your mother.

My Mother worked her whole life, paying into the system up to to point that she was seriously injured on the job and unable to physically work until she recovered. The $150 a month she collected kept us from starving. Your opinion is extreme, black and white and you seemingly lack empathy and even sympathy.

Workers compensation. That is acceptable. Welfare? No.

I'm just going to go ahead and call bull**** on this right out of the blocks. I'm disputing the figure as I do not believe that what they are calling "subsidies" are actually subsidies and, furthermore, I WILL NOT be paying the $18 your link is charging to print a copy of this "study" so I can actually read it for myself.

SS is not welfare. People pay into SS and get the money back when they retire.

1970's, working at a shady sweatshop factory(Non-union) with bigger and badder lawyers = no workers comp.
This isn't the 70's. Times have changed, and working at a shady sweatshop would have been something to reconsider before her injury. That's not my or anyone elses responsibility.

Lots of scamming in workman's comp too. Anybody can claim they got back pain from the job.

I don't care, the company would have to fight back. Either way, taxpayers from around the country don't pay for it.

Not stealing, a reflection of society and what must be done.
You OK with children starving in America?
Begging on the streets?
